In the past week, the ambulance responded to 10 calls and transported seven patients to the hospital, four with out-of-town ALS paramedics on board. The ambulance was called to two motor vehicle collisions and provided one lift assist.
Tuesday, Feb. 10
At 9:41 a.m. the duty officer assisted a South Shaker Road resident with a defective smoke alarm.
Wednesday, Feb. 11
At 4:12 p.m. Engine 2, the tower truck, and the tanker went to a business on Ayer Road where an alarm was sounding. Firefighters found the alarm had gone off because it was filled with water from a roof leak.
Thursday, Feb. 12
At 8:13 a.m. firefighters were called to a car crash on Route 2 eastbound, but the Littleton Fire Department canceled the call. At 3:15 p.m. the ambulance responded to a medical call at a house on Littleton County Road. EMTs also carry carbon monoxide detectors in their kits, and these detectors went off in the house. The EMTs took the patient out of the house. Engine 2 and the fire chief came to the scene, and firefighters’ meters showed moderately high levels of carbon monoxide, caused by a defective heating system. They vented the house and told the owner to call for a repair service.
Friday, Feb. 13
At 8:29 a.m. a caller reported the smell of burning plastic at an Ayer Road residence, but thermal imaging did not detect anything. The owner was advised to have the HVAC system serviced.
Saturday, Feb. 14
At 7:56 a.m. an alarm went off at a Still River Road business; burned food was the cause.
Sunday, Feb. 15
At 5:21 p.m. a Babbitt Lane resident reported smoke in the house. Engine 2, the tower truck, and the tanker responded. Firefighters found smoke was coming from the oven, where a mouse nest was burning. They shut off power to the oven.
