Rosie Bradley put on a commanding performance to win the 2-mile at the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 5 Indoor Track and Field Championship on Feb. 14 at The TRACK at New Balance, Boston.
Bradley, a senior, ran 11 minutes, 20.33 seconds to finish 18 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. It marked her second Division 5 indoor 2-mile title, following her victory as a sophomore in 2024. The 2-mile victory came after Bradley placed fifth in the mile earlier in the meet with a time of 5:16.14.
“I was impressed with how Rosie was able to put the disappointment of her mile race behind her and not let that affect her 2-mile performance,” said coach Marisa Steele.
Bradley will compete at the MIAA Meet of Champions on Feb. 21 before closing her season at the New Balance Indoor National Meet in mid-March, where she has qualified for the 5-kilometer, 2-mile, and 1-mile races.
Kai Kemeza hands off the baton to brother and anchor leg Liam Kemeza (#1968) in the boys 4x800m relay.
On the boys side, Harrison Binnick and the 4x800-meter relay team earned medals. Binnick placed sixth in the 1000-meter with a personal record of 2:40.48, with just 0.7 seconds separating third through sixth place. “Harrison ran his best race of the season when it counted,” Steele said.
The boys 4x800m relay team of Binnick, Micah Wiebe, Kai Kemeza, and Liam Kemeza took bronze. Steele wrote in an email that although their time was disappointing, the team has qualified for next week’s Meet of Champions based on an earlier season performance.
It was a day of personal bests for several Bromfield athletes. Among the girls, Vivienne Cogan shaved 10 seconds off her personal record in the 1000-meter, while Gabriella Temps improved by one second in the same race. Abby Wool took 3 seconds off her PR in the mile, and Christina Kekis took a second off her 2-mile PR. For the boys, Kai Kemeza cut 2 seconds off his mile PR, and Liam Kemeza ran his best ever 600-meter.
Lunenburg won the Division 5 girls team title with 42 points, while Bromfield tied for 13th with 14 points. Parker Charter Essential won the boys title with 46 points, with Bromfield tying for 21st with 9 points. The annual meet drew teams from more than 30 schools across the state. Bromfield competed in four of the meet’s 13 events.
