The town has been offered the right of first refusal on a 4-acre lot on Madigan Lane. Though now used as a hayfield, the property is a legal building lot in a residential district, and the owners intend to sell it as such.

After two-year hiatus, Bromfield defeats Rockland to win back state championship

The Bromfield boys soccer team is once again a state champion after shutting out the No. 5 seed Rockland Bulldogs 1-0 in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 4 final before an enthusiastic crowd of supporters Nov. 21 at Doyle Stadium in Leominster. The championship was Bromfield’s 14th since 1979.

Assistant Superintendent Labb chosen to succeed Dwight in 2026

From a pool of 24 applicants, the School Committee interviewed three finalists to be Harvard’s next superintendent of schools. After hearing from each candidate, the committee voted unanimously to appoint Dana Labb to succeed Superintendent Linda Dwight.

The School Committee has submitted a list of eight projects to the Capital Planning and Investment Committee for funding in fiscal 2027. Some were brand new, others were familiar requests from past years, and at least one is likely making its last appearance.

As temperatures hovered a little above freezing on Veterans Day, about 30 people gathered under gray skies on the Common to honor all those who had served in this nation’s armed forces. They stood at the southwest corner of the Common, near the World War I flagpole and memorial.

A ‘game changer’: Harvard to help fund peer counseling facility for substance use recovery

Harvard’s Addiction Abatement Working Group has a new plan in the works for a portion of the town’s uncommitted opioid settlement funds. In partnership with Riverbend, a Lowell organization that provides addiction recovery services, the group plans to contribute $75,000 to open a peer counseling facility.

In a unanimous vote, School Committee members this week were clearly happy to approve the traditional ninth-grade trip to Washington, D.C. And School Superintendent Linda Dwight noted that nearly all ninth-graders take part in the event each year.

From haunted church to circus barn, Harvard’s Halloween draws crowds under gibbous moon

Costumed kids and their parents had already begun to arrive for Harvard’s annual celebration of Halloween Friday, Oct. 31, before the town bell struck 5 o’clock, and the crowds grew as darkness fell.
