Between Nov. 19 and Nov. 24, police made three motor vehicle stops, one resulting in a verbal warning and two in written warnings or citations. Officers also responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Nov. 19
At 6:04 a.m. an alarm company reported a burglar alarm from the Hildreth Elementary School; the report indicated a door was open on the north side of the building. An officer checked the door and found strong winds must have shaken it, causing the alarm to go off. At 6:06 a.m. a caller reported a large dog with a collar wandering on Lancaster County Road; the animal control officer was notified. At 7:06 a.m. an Ann Lees Road resident called to say a man was in a car in the resident’s driveway, waiting to serve court papers on a person who did not live there. An officer told the man in the car that he was at the wrong address. At 7:44 a.m. a young person reported a dead possum. At 8:22 a.m. and again at 12:40 p.m., a West Bare Hill Road resident called with concerns that some horses were being neglected; the matter was referred to the animal control officer. At 3:36 p.m. someone called 911, saying a garbage truck had backed into a utility pole and knocked it down near the end of Depot Road. National Grid was notified.
Wednesday, Nov. 20
At 7:52 a.m. police received a 911 call about a three-car collision on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction.
Thursday, Nov. 21
At 6 a.m. there was another crash on Route 2 eastbound; again state police were in charge. At 2:12 p.m. a 911 caller reported a two-car collision on Ayer Road near the post office; no one was injured. At 2:24 p.m. someone called to say a car had gone over the stone wall at the Prospect Hill Road overlook. Police found the car unoccupied and the wall damaged; the car was towed.
Friday, Nov. 22
At 7:24 a.m. a caller told police a large tree limb had fallen near the intersection of West Bare Hill and Barton roads; police called the Department of Public Works to remove it.
Saturday, Nov. 23
At 1:45 a.m. police were notified of a crash on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 2:23 a.m. a Littleton County Road resident reported hearing someone outside near her garage and smelling cigar smoke; police found nothing amiss. At 5:52 a.m. there was another crash on Route 2, this time in the westbound lane. At 4:32 p.m. a caller told police a black pickup truck had hit a utility pole and a mailbox on Old Littleton Road; the pickup driver had provided his information to the caller and said he would return to repair the damage to the mailbox and clean up the scene. At 6:59 p.m. a caller reported hitting a deer near the intersection of Ayer and Old Mill roads.
Sunday, Nov. 24
At 4:04 a.m. a residential burglar alarm sounded at a Still River Road home; police found a basement door open, but there was no sign of an intruder. At 3:40 p.m. a crash was reported on Interstate 495 southbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 5:39 p.m. an officer was dispatched to keep peace at an Old Meadow Lane residence with regard to a court order.
