After edging its way into the playoffs as the the number 32 seed Division 4 team, Bromfield’s field hockey players were paired with the No. 1 seed Uxbridge Spartans in the first round of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association state championship, losing the Nov. 1 away match 12-0 and bringing their season to an end.
Meanwhile, the boys and girls soccer teams each began their pursuit of a state championship on Tuesday, Nov. 5, playing first round games simultaneously on adjacent turf fields of the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association in Lancaster. The girls shut out 24th-seeded Palmer 7-0 and advanced to the round of 16 where they were scheduled to play eighth-seeded Hopedale on Friday. The boys beat the Georgetown Royal Lancers 6-0 and were set to face No. 19 seed University Park Campus of Worcester on Friday, Nov. 8.
Finally, the top-ranked boys and girls cross-country teams were preparing for the MIAA Division 2 sectional meets scheduled to be held at at the Wrentham Development Center in Wrentham starting at 2 p.m. Saturday.
