As I conclude my service on the Harvard School Committee, I would like to thank the community for the opportunity to serve.
As I reflect on my time on the committee, I am most grateful for the opportunity to work alongside people who care deeply about our schools and our students. School Committee members bring different perspectives and experiences to the table, and I have always been impressed by the seriousness with which they approach the work and their commitment to doing what is best for students.
Strong public schools are one of a community’s greatest assets, and strong schools depend on engaged citizens who are willing to step forward and serve. As I complete my term, I encourage others to consider participating in this important work. Our schools are stronger when community members get involved.
I would also like to thank Dr. Linda Dwight for her years of leadership and service to Harvard Public Schools. Her commitment to students and families has left a lasting mark on our district, and I join the community in wishing her a happy retirement.
I am confident that Dana Labb will build on that strong foundation and continue the important work of serving Harvard’s students, families, and educators.
I am especially grateful to School Committee Chair Abby Besse for her leadership during my time on the committee. Abby sets a high standard for the work, bringing thoughtfulness, rigor, and a deep commitment to doing what is best for students. Just as importantly, she does so with warmth, good humor, and a spirit of collaboration that brings out the best in those around her. I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to serve with her.
It has been an honor to serve the students, families, and residents of Harvard. I leave with gratitude for the many people who work every day to make our schools a source of pride for our community.
