Gratitude from Harvard Flea Market co-chairs

Saturday, Oct. 5, was a beautiful sunny day for our 52nd annual Harvard Flea Market. Thank you to all the vendors and to the attendees who came to enthusiastically shop.

The continued success of the flea market is important to both the Harvard Schools Trust and the League of Women Voters of Harvard as both groups support many activities in town. The Harvard Schools Trust has supported the Harvard school system for 35 years, and the money raised by the flea market is directed back to the schools. The League of Women Voters of Harvard has recently used its funds from flea markets to streamline the voting process at town meetings and the polls by purchasing two additional Poll Pads and 500 clickers to count votes at town meetings.

Volunteers are critical to the success of the flea market—from the slightly sleepy volunteers who direct vendors onto the field early in the morning to the friendly admission gate volunteers. Thanks to the Bromfield students, including alumni, who help with load-in, gate tallying, and assisting with trash and recyclables. A group of Hildreth Elementary School students do the final cleanup, leaving the field in great shape.

Unseen are those who collect initial money and assign booths along with those who stake the fields.

Thanks to our public safety providers, including the Board of Health this year, in their guidance with Eastern equine encephalitis. A big thanks to our DPW for fencing, barrels, and steady trash pickup. We’d also like to thank the Bromfield School and Parks and Rec for their assistance.

A big thank-you to our Flea Market Committee. None of this would be possible without their leadership.

Thanks finally to the residents of Harvard who support us and deal with the congested roads and a little chaos. It’s so appreciated.

We look forward to our 53rd year, when the Flea Market will be held on Oct. 11, 2025.
