Between July 7 and Aug. 10, police made 289 motor vehicle stops, 191 resulting in verbal warnings and 92 in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on 13 disabled vehicles, made eight well-being checks, helped one person locked out of a vehicle, and responded to 14 false or accidental burglar alarms. The listings below cover only a selection of events reported to police in the past five weeks.
Wednesday, July 8
At 8:08 p.m. a caller reported a car parked at a business on Ayer Road and three people who were going in and out of the building; the group drove off as an officer arrived. At 9:14 p.m. a St. John Lane resident complained about noise from a neighbor’s lawnmower. An officer told the neighbor it was too late to be mowing.
Friday, July 10
At 8:23 a.m. a person who had been arrested the night before in a case involving domestic abuse was taken to the Clinton Courthouse for a hearing; other aspects of the case are not publicly available.
Saturday, July 11
At 1:30 p.m. a caller complained someone was jet skiing on Bare Hill Pond. An officer informed the skier that jet skis are not allowed there.
Monday, July 13
At 10:47 p.m. a Littleton County Road resident reported hearing people talking outside her window. Police searched the area but found no one there.
Tuesday, July 14
At 12:29 p.m. a 911 caller reported two cars had collided on Route 2 but then exited onto Ayer Road to exchange papers at the Dunkin Donuts.
Wednesday, July 15
At 8:40 a.m. some Harvard police officers and firefighters joined the funeral escort for Fitchburg’s deputy fire chief. At 5:05 p.m. on Ayer Road, a 22-year-old South Grafton resident received a summons for driving without a license and other violations. At 8:54 p.m. a resident complained about some former friends who were harassing her on social media. At 11:38 p.m. an automatic 911 call from a cellphone reported a car crash on Ayer Road, raising concerns about the cellphone’s owner. However, it proved to be a false report, caused when the cellphone was dropped.
Friday, July 17
At 10:23 a.m. a Stow Road resident said his teenage son had been walking by the road when a man in a black truck offered the boy a ride home. The caller believed the driver was the same man who had been peering in their windows a few days earlier. A police report of the incident was filed. At 9:21 p.m. a Stow Road resident called 911 with suspicions about a man looking around the caller’s property and taking photos. Police checked the area and found nothing amiss.
Saturday, July 18
At 4:36 p.m. a 911 caller told police her car had hit a telephone pole on Littleton County Road; no one was injured, and she had already called a tow truck. National Grid was alerted to check the pole. At 10:22 p.m. Bolton police called Harvard officers for assistance with a large gathering of young people that involved underage drinking.
Monday, July 20
At 9:41 p.m. an Ann Lees Road resident complained about a noisy group of young people on the ball field nearby.
Tuesday, July 21
At 11:46 a.m. a caller asked for a well-being check on a driver who had pulled into a driveway on Stow Road. The person was having a medical emergency and was taken to a hospital.
Wednesday, July 22
At 12:45 p.m. a 911 caller said their car had hit a utility pole on Still River Road. The car required a tow.
Thursday, July 23
At 10:26 a.m. someone came to the police station to report a case of larceny. At 6:51 p.m. a Lovers Lane resident called to report damage to their stone wall.
Friday, July 24
At 6:11 p.m. a Bolton Road resident told police someone had tampered with their security camera. At 10:42 p.m. Stow police asked for help in locating two horses that had been seen loose on Harvard Road there, but Harvard police did not find the animals.
Saturday, July 25
At 1:36 p.m. a 911 caller reported a car and a motorcycle had collided at the intersection of Poor Farm and Ayer roads; the motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital.
Monday, July 27
At 5:55 p.m. on Route 2 westbound a 55-year-old Fitchburg man received a summons for driving with a suspended license.
Wednesday, July 29
At 1:10 p.m. two people came to the police station to complain of harassment. At 4:14 p.m. Stow police requested help from Harvard’s drone team in searching for a lost person.
Friday, July 31
At 11:43 a.m. Boxborough police asked for assistance in dealing with a disturbance on Spencer Road.
Saturday, Aug. 1
At 9:47 p.m. Harvard police were asked to assist in the search for someone who had run away from home in Princeton and whose cellphone indicated they might be here.
Friday, Aug. 7
At 10:21 a.m. on Pinnacle Road a 29-year-old Boxborough man received a summons for driving with a suspended license and failure to stop at a stop sign. At 7:06 p.m. on Ayer Road a 47-year-old Ayer woman also failed to stop at a stop sign and received a summons for that and for driving with a suspended registration.
Saturday, Aug. 8
At 3:02 a.m. a Depot Road resident called 911 to report her daughter had not returned home from the city by cab as expected; the young woman was later found safe at college. At 8:49 p.m. a Woodchuck Hill Road resident told police two men had come to the door saying they were looking for a lost phone. Shortly thereafter, another Woodchuck Hill Road resident reported a similar visit from the two men. Police searched the area but did not locate them.
Sunday, Aug. 9
At 8:28 a.m. on Mass. Ave. Harvard police assisted Boxborough officers in arresting a 23-year-old Boxborough man for whom there was an outstanding warrant. At 6:34 p.m. a Stow Road resident called 911 about two unfamiliar people who were knocking on the door; the resident quickly called back, however, saying the two people had departed, leaving a note asking about a missing package.
Monday, Aug. 10
At 10:58 a.m. a 911 caller said they had been walking four dogs near Willow Road, and one dog had gotten hurt. An officer helped bandage the injured dog and carried it to the car so it could be taken to the veterinarian.
