Donald Dawson died on June 5, 2026, at the age of 96, with his loving family by his side.
He was a longtime resident of Harvard, moving into and purchasing one of Mildred Hazel’s properties in 1969. He and his family raised Arabian horses at their Depot Road residence for over 30 years. Their farm was known for Arabian show horses, free kittens, Fourth of July parade participation, and wool from their sheep.
In addition to running Dawson Arabian Farm, Donald owned and operated Dawson Hardware Store in Cambridge for over 40 years. Donald retired to Waxhaw, North Carolina, in 2012.
Interment was at Westview Cemetery in Lexington. Condolences may be made to The Arabian Horsemen’s Distress Fund, 236 Henry Sanford Road, Bridgewater, CT 06752, in memory of Donald Dawson.
