Candidates for elected town boards and committees have been in short supply for the last decade or so, but things are looking up. This year, four candidates will be running for two seats on the Select Board, and four more will be running for two library trustee positions. Only one candidate is running for the single open seat on the School Committee. The Warner Free Lecture trustees are short a candidate, with one person running and two open seats.
The Select Board candidates are incumbent Don Ludwig of East Bare Hill Road; Richard Cabelus of Pinnacle Road, former Planning Board chair; Ahmet Corapcioglu of Shaker Road; and Eve Wittenberg of Prospect Hill Road, currently chair of the Conservation Commission.
Candidates for library trustees are incumbent Stacie Green of Whitney Road; Rebecca Brown of Park Lane; Sarah Saleh of Mass. Ave.; and Molly Waring of Littleton Road.
Brian Killeen of Lancaster County Road is running for School Committee, and Piali De of Mill Road is running for Warner Free Lecture trustee. Warner Free Lecture incumbent Sheila Simollardes took out nomination papers, but did not return them by the March 18 deadline.
According to Assistant Town Clerk Nicole Levay-O’Brien all 10 candidates who turned in nomination papers by the deadline had the number of signatures required, so all will appear on the ballot for the May 6 election.
The last day to register to vote in the Town Election is April 23. Voting by mail is available; the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot is April 3.
