Dramatic reading of Declaration of Independence

The Harvard Historical Society will present a program on the origins of the Declaration of Independence Sunday, June 14, 2 p.m., upstairs in Town Hall. In a presentation titled “The Declaration Then and Now,” actors will describe the historical context and show that Harvard took steps toward independence even before Jefferson declared it. The event will include a dramatic reading of much of the document. Free though donations are appreciated. (HarvardHistory.org/the-declaration-then-and-now).

10-minute play festival at Cannon Theatre

The Cannon Theatre will present a festival of short plays Friday, June 12, to Sunday, June 14, at 28 Andrews Parkway, Devens. Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m. curtain; Sunday 2 p.m. curtain. See comedy and drama in 10 different plays from 10 different playwrights. (TheCannonTheatre.org).


Fruitlands residents weekends

Fruitlands Museum, 102 Prospect Hill Road, will offer free admission on selected weekends through the season to residents of nearby communities. Admission will be free for Harvard residents Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14, and free for Devens residents Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12. Invasive plants workshop

The Sudbury Valley Trustees will lead a hands-on workshop in the management of invasive plants Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m., on the Small Nature Trail behind the Hildreth Elementary school. Rain date Sunday, June 14, 1 p.m. Learn to identify, combat, and dispose of common local invasives like burning bush, multiflora rose, bittersweet, knotweed, and others. Learn to use the specialized garden tools available to borrow at the library.


Curator’s tour at Fruitlands

Explore the creative process behind an outdoor sculpture exhibit at Fruitlands Museum, 102 Prospect Hill Road, Saturday, June 13, noon to 1 p.m. Museum associate curator of Native American art Tess Lukey (Aquinnah Wampanoag) will lead a tour of the creative process gallery for the exhibit “The Land Tells Our Stories,” and discuss how three artists created works for three different Trustees sites across the state. $3 member, $6 nonmember, plus museum admission. Music at the General

Harvard’s high-energy rock band Sonic Union will perform Saturday, June 13, 5 to 8 p.m., at the Harvard General Store, 1 Still River Road. Enjoy great food and drink while listening to tunes from the ’70s to the present.


Afternoon storytelling

Fugitive Productions will host storytelling Sunday, June 14, 3 p.m., at Old Frog Pond Farm & Studio, 38 Eldridge Road. The afternoon will include four regional, award-winning storytellers as well as several local, hand-picked tellers. June’s theme is “rooted.” Tickets $20 at the door, $15 in advance. Devens farmers market

The Devens farmers market returns this summer with a selection of locally grown fruits and vegetables. The market will be held alternate Tuesdays, June 16 to Oct. 20, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the corner of Elm and Jackson roads, across from the Fire Station. Yoga on Rogers Field

IridESSENCE Community Health Collaborative will lead outdoor yoga Wednesdays, June 17 to Aug. 26, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Rogers Field, Devens. Bring a yoga mat, water, sunscreen, and bug spray. PTO end of year event

The Harvard Schools PTO will celebrate the end of the school year Friday, June 19, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., at Canobie Lake Park, Salem, New Hampshire. Spend the day with friends at this classic theme park, with thrilling rides, haunted houses, and fun for all. Sacred fire

Old Frog Pond Farm & Studio will hold a community fire Friday, June 19, 6:30 to 9 p.m., at the farm at 38 Eldridge Road. This is a monthly community fire facilitated by Christina Gravelle, a firekeeper trained through Sacred Fire. Learn to make sourdough

The Goose and Hen farm will offer a class on sourdough bread baking Saturday, June 20, 2 to 3:30 p.m., at 85 Old Littleton Road. Make European-style sourdough bread with simple ingredients and no kneading. Participants will leave with an in-progress loaf plus additional sourdough starter. $35 per person. Family fun at Mirror Lake

Kick off the summer season Sunday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the annual Family Fun Day at Mirror Lake in Devens. Enjoy the Summa Madness ice cream truck and Tacos y Burritos Panchita Mexican food truck, along with swimming, boat rentals, an inflatable slide, games, and music. Free admission. Library ice cream social

The library invites all ages to its annual ice cream social, Tuesday, June 23, 4 p.m., outdoors on the lawn by the pavilion at 4 Pond Road. Come make your own sundaes with ice cream from West Side Creamery, socialize with friends, play lawn games, and enjoy classic rock songs performed by the local band The Speed Bumps. Understand flag etiquette

The Fort Devens Museum, 94 Jackson Road, Devens, will host a brief presentation Saturday, June 20, 1 p.m., by Eagle Scout Cameron Hermann. Groton Greenway River Festival

The 2026 Groton Greenway River Festival will take place Sunday, June 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Petapawag Canoe

Celebrate Juneteenth at 19 Carter

The 19 Carter community center, 19 Carter St., Berlin, will host a Juneteenth celebration Friday, June 19, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Listen to lyric and verse with themes of collective consciousness performed by Born Everlasting Sun, followed by strawberry shortcake. Free. (19Carter.org).


Tanks, wings, and wheels

The American Heritage Museum, 568 Main St., Hudson, will host an exhibition of classic automobiles Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This special Father’s Day weekend event will feature rare and classic cars in a driving display daily at 1 p.m., and visitors may also explore the museum’s collections of vintage aircraft, tanks, and automobiles. Tickets $20 to $35.
