Police Log: September 3 to 9 , 2024

In the past week, police made three motor vehicle stops, all resulting in verbal warnings. Officers also checked on a disabled motor vehicle, issued or renewed a firearm permit, made three well-being checks, and responded to one false burglar alarm.

Tuesday, Sept. 3
At 2:22 p.m. a caller complained that dogs at an Ayer Road residence had been barking all day.

Wednesday, Sept. 4
At 9:03 a.m. someone came to the police station to report a case of fraud. At 10:48 a.m. a hiker turned in a debit card found on a conservation trail; the owner had already replaced the card and asked police to shred the old one. At 10:56 a.m. a Littleton County Road resident reported wires down across the driveway; Verizon was notified. At 11:01 a.m. an officer asked the driver of a badly parked trailer on Old Littleton Road to move the vehicle. At 2:31 p.m. a Littleton County Road resident told police someone had broken into her garage; but no one was home when police came to check on the matter. At 11:54 p.m. a Warren Avenue resident reported someone driving off in a construction truck that had been parked there.

Thursday, Sept. 5
At 7:56 a.m. the Littleton County Road resident called again, saying someone had broken into her garage on two occasions; a report was filed. At 8:01 a.m. someone reported two large dogs without tags—possibly golden retrievers—were loose on Old Mill Road; the animal control officer was notified. At 8:30 p.m. a 911 caller said a driver was having difficulty backing up a tractor-trailer truck near the intersection of Sholan Circle and Codman Hill Road; police called a towing service, which sent an experienced driver to assist.

Friday, Sept. 6
At 2:26 p.m. a Stow Road resident called 911 with concerns about a family member whose whereabouts were unknown; an officer checked and found everyone was safe.

Saturday, Sept. 7
At 2:10 a.m. a Peninsula Road resident said people were yelling outside the house; an officer searched the area and found everything dark and quiet. At 10:33 a.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident reported receiving two threatening emails. At 11:40 a.m. a caller requested a well-being check for a person on Oak Hill Road; an officer found a cyclist was changing a tire. At 2:31 p.m. state police asked for paperwork to serve a court order. At 7:39 p.m. a 911 caller reported hearing two loud bangs near Shaker Road.

Sunday, Sept. 8
At 1:45 p.m. an officer checked on a vehicle parked on Still River Depot Road. At 3:55 p.m. a 911 caller told police someone had been standing up through the sunroof of a moving car on Littleton Road, apparently to film a motorcycle. At 7:50 p.m. someone called 911 to say two cars were racing on South Shaker Road, and there had been two or three loud noises that might have been gunshots.

Monday, Sept. 9
At 9:07 a.m. Ayer police requested backup in checking at a house where a domestic dispute had previously been reported.
