Police Log: March 18 to 24, 2025

In the past week, police made 19 motor vehicle stops, seven resulting in verbal warnings, 11 in written warnings or citations, and one in a civil citation, which carries a fine. Officers also checked on a disabled vehicle, helped someone who was locked out of a vehicle, and made two well-being checks.

Tuesday, March 18
At 10:07 a.m. an officer noticed a fallen stop sign at the intersection of Shaker and Littleton roads and notified the Department of Public Works to put the sign back up. At 12:33 p.m. someone came to the station to report a case of fraud. At 1:14 p.m. a resident came in to complain of harassment. At 5:22 p.m. a runner reported she had been chased by a German shepherd dog on Old Littleton Road.

Wednesday, March 19
At 3:52 a.m. an officer noticed a live electric line dangling over Westcott Road and notified National Grid. At 9:27 a.m. someone reported a dead rabbit on Pond Road. At 11:24 a.m. a caller told police they were stranded and needed a ride. At 2:06 p.m. someone saw a parked vehicle on Pinnacle Road and suspected trespassers in the area. But the car belonged to a member of the Fire Department who was taking drone photos of the fire tower roof in preparation for maintenance work.

Thursday, March 20
At 12:42 p.m. a caller reported two large white dogs roaming near Littleton Road, and the animal control officer was informed. At 4:59 p.m. a Peninsula Road resident told police they had found a stray pug dog nearby and brought it inside; again the animal control officer was notified.

Friday, March 21
At 7:48 a.m. an Ayer Road resident reported a case of breaking and entering that had taken place sometime earlier. At 10:05 a.m. the Department of Public Works blocked travel near the intersection of Old Mill and Ayer roads while National Grid worked on a downed utility line. At 8:41 p.m. a caller reported a noisy gathering and beeping cars at the Prospect Hill Road overlook, and an officer told the group to disperse.

Saturday, March 22
At 10:16 a.m. an officer removed a fallen tree branch in the road near the intersection of Bowers Road and Tahanto Trail. At 5:35 p.m. an officer issued a summons to a 29-year-old Mansfield resident on Ayer Road for driving a car without an inspection sticker and also for driving with an expired registration and license; the car was towed. At 9:50 p.m. an officer checked on a car parked at an Ayer Road business after closing time. At 10:11 a.m. an Old Mill Road resident reported two unfamiliar cars in the caller’s driveway; an officer spoke with the drivers and they left.

Sunday, March 23, and Monday, March 24
Nothing significant to report.
