Police Log: January 13 to 19, 2026

In the past week, police made 22 motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings and 18 in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on three disabled vehicles, made three well-being checks, and responded to three false burglar alarms.

Tuesday, Jan. 13
At 10:39 a.m. someone came to the police station and spoke with an officer about a suspicious event the person had seen while on a walk.

Wednesday, Jan. 14
At 12:30 p.m. a resident spoke with an officer at the station with concerns about possible fraud, but the officer explained the matter did not constitute fraud. Shortly thereafter, however, at 12:51 p.m., another resident reported a different potential case of fraud. This time, police confirmed fraud was involved, and they filed a report. At 4:35 p.m. a caller said a student had possibly run away from school, but the student had returned when police checked. At 9:01 p.m. Belmont police asked Harvard officers to have a local resident call the Belmont department.

Thursday, Jan. 15
Nothing significant to report.

Friday, Jan. 16
At 6:38 a.m. someone called 911 about a disabled motor vehicle on Route 2 eastbound; the matter was referred to the state police.

Saturday, Jan. 17
At 11:47 a.m. a caller told police a utility box along White Lane appeared to have been damaged, possibly by a car. At 1:18 p.m. police alerted the Department of Public Works that roads were getting snowy. At 2:07 p.m. a 911 caller said road conditions were bad on Brown and East Bare Hill roads. Soon afterward, there was a spate of crashes. At 2:37 p.m. a 911 caller reported a car had hit a utility pole along Still River Road; one person was injured, and the car was towed. At 3:22 p.m. another car hit a pole near the intersection of Stow and Codman Hill roads; no one was injured, but the car was towed. At 4:12 p.m. a car struck a tree along Bolton Road; again the car required a tow. And at 4:41 p.m. a car became stuck in a field off Stow Road and needed a tow. At 5:06 p.m. someone reported slick conditions on Westcott Road, and the DPW was alerted. At 5:24 p.m. a caller said a utility pole was in the road near the intersection of Stow and Codman Hill roads, likely as a result of the earlier crash there. National Grid was informed. At 6:22 p.m. a caller reported hearing a burglar alarm going off at a nearby house. Police found the alarm had been discarded but was still sounding in the trash can.

Sunday, Jan. 18
At 2:21 p.m. a 911 caller said a car had slid off the road near the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Slough Road. A tow truck was called. At 4:39 p.m. someone turned in a lost wallet, and police took it back to its owner.

Monday, Jan. 19
At 3:05 a.m. the DPW said a tree was leaning on power lines along Brown Road, and National Grid was informed. At 8:18 a.m. a 911 caller told police about another tree on wires near the intersection of South Shaker and Ann Lees roads; again National Grid was called. At 8:55 a.m. an Old Mill Road resident called 911, saying the electric power drop to their house was down; police told the resident to call National Grid.
