In the past week, police made four motor vehicle stops, three resulting in verbal warnings and one in a written warning or citation. Officers also checked on a disabled motor vehicle and responded to a false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, Feb. 25
At 12:40 a.m. an Ayer Road resident dialed 911 and hung up; an officer went to the house and found it had been an accidental call. At 12:03 p.m. a caller reported a crash on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 1:11 p.m. someone complained that two large trucks parked on Bolton Road were a traffic hazard; an officer told the drivers to move. At 4:09 p.m. a Scott Road resident called 911 to say a yellow Lab was in the yard; the animal control officer was notified. At 8:18 p.m. Acton police asked Harvard officers to tell a Craggs Road resident to call the Acton department.
Wednesday, Feb. 26
At 8:31 a.m. a caller reported an icy patch of road on the hill near Town Hall; the Department of Public Works was informed. At 4:27 p.m. someone told police there was a hurt red-tailed hawk on Poor Farm Road, and the animal control officer was notified.
Thursday, Feb. 27
At 8:17 a.m. a 911 caller reported a two-car collision on Ayer Road; no one was injured. At 3:47 p.m. a Peninsula Road resident said a sick or injured fisher was under their deck; again the animal control officer was told. At 5 p.m. someone called to complain that his ex-wife had taken his belongings out of an apartment while he was away; police told him it was a civil issue.
Friday, Feb. 28
At 12:52 a.m. an officer checked on a parked car on Prospect Hill Road; the driver said he was having car trouble but had already called his parents for help. At 6:14 a.m. a caller said Mass. Ave. was icy, and both the DPW and the Massachusetts Highway Department were notified.
Saturday, March 1:
t 7:36 p.m. police notified the DPW that roads were becoming slick throughout town.
Sunday, March 2
At 11:42 a.m. a caller reported a sick deer that seemed to be drooling; it was near the intersection of Pinnacle and Littleton roads. At 4:45 p.m. Concord police asked for a well-being check on a Littleton Road resident after finding his car crashed and abandoned near the border of Concord and Lincoln. Harvard police called the car owner’s wife, who said she would have the person who had been driving the car call the Concord department. At 6:29 p.m. a 911 caller said he saw a white light flashing on the front of a house on South Shaker Road, and he thought it might be an alarm. An officer found it was a motion detector.
Monday, March 3
At 12:02 a.m. a driver called 911 to say he was almost out of gas and had young children with him in the vehicle; he was concerned the cold temperatures would be unsafe for them if they were stranded on the road. Police directed the man to the 24-hour Alltown Fresh gas station in Ayer, staying in phone contact with him until he rolled into the station. At 8:53 a.m. someone called with suspicions about a white van that had been parked on Pinnacle Road for over an hour, and patrol units were advised. At 2:19 p.m. a Deerfoot Trail resident reported that a laptop he had left for repairs at a store in Clinton had been stolen; the matter was referred to Clinton police.
