Fire and Ambulance Log: November 24 to December 1, 2025

From Nov. 24 to Dec. 1, the ambulance responded to 18 calls and transported 15 patients to the hospital, three with Harvard ALS-Advanced personnel on board and six with out-of-town ALS-Paramedics on board. The ambulance was called to one motor vehicle collision and provided two lift assists.

Monday, Nov. 24
At 11:02 a.m. Engine 4, the tower, and the fire chief responded to a 911 call from a Stow Road home. The crews found the alarm had been set off by an oil burner backfire.

Wednesday, Nov. 26
At 9:09 p.m. Engine 2, Engine 4, the tower truck, and the tanker all responded to an alarm at a multifamily dwelling on Ayer Road. Firefighters found that a resident had left a pot holder on the stove, and the it had begun to smoke. The resident had extinguished the smoldering pot holder, and firefighters vented the rooms and reset the alarm.

Friday, Nov. 28
At 5:04 p.m. a South Shaker Road resident called and asked for someone to inspect their woodstove, which had smelled of smoke on Thanksgiving; the duty officer checked the stove and found nothing wrong with it.

Monday, Dec. 1
At 10:27 a.m. Engine 2, along with police and the ambulance, were called to the crash near the intersection of Tahanto Trail and Bowers Road. Firefighters waited at the scene until the tow truck arrived. Then Engine 2 was called to a home on Mettacomet Path, where a carbon monoxide alarm was going off. Meters showed no carbon monoxide in the house, so the owner was advised to have the alarm serviced.
