The Ambulance Service responded to six calls and transported two patients to the hospital, neither with Advanced Life Support services on board. The ambulance was called to two vehicle crashes. One person needed a lift assist.
Tuesday, June 18
At 1:01 p.m. the fire chief and Engine 2 went to Still River Road in response to the three-car crash there; firefighters helped clean up debris and provide traffic control. At 5:25 p.m. a carbon monoxide alarm went off at a Woodside Road house. The duty officer found low levels of the gas in the house and traced the problem to the oil burner; the burner was turned off, the house was ventilated, and the homeowner was advised to have the burner serviced. At 9:43 p.m. Engines 2 and 4 were called to the deer strike on Route 2 but were not needed. At 10 p.m. Engine 4 went to a home on Hillcrest Drive after a 911 caller reported smelling smoke; the smell came from a faulty power strip.
Wednesday, June 19
At 9:13 a.m. construction work accidentally set off a fire alarm at a municipal building. At 4:44 p.m. Engine 4 went to Lancaster to cover the fire station there for about five hours while Lancaster’s firefighters were at a training exercise. At 5:11 p.m. the duty officer responded to an alarm from a Sherry Road house; the problem was a faulty detector.
Friday, June 21
At 9:50 a.m. a caller reported a brush fire on Route 2 westbound, and the forestry truck checked the area but found no fire.
Sunday, June 23
At 1:22 a.m. a fire alarm went off at a Lancaster County Road residence, and the duty officer found a faulty detector. At 11:28 p.m. the duty officer responded to a fire alarm from a house on Whitney Road and again found a defective detector.
