Police Log: January 27 to February 2, 2026

In the past week, police made 13 motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings and nine in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on five disabled vehicles, helped two people who were locked out of their vehicles, and responded to two false burglar alarms.

Tuesday, Jan. 27
At 10:58 a.m. a 911 caller said a car had gone into a snowbank along Mass. Ave. The car needed a tow, and afterward the Department of Public Works was called to clear snow that had been thrown into the road while getting the car out. At 4:02 p.m a caller reported a car stuck in snow along Stow Road. At 4:27 p.m. another report came in of a disabled vehicle near the intersection of Trail Ridge Way and Littleton County Road. Yet another disabled vehicle—this one with a flat tire—was reported at 10:42 p.m. on Old Shirley Road.

Wednesday, Jan. 28
At 10:01 a.m. the DPW asked police to provide traffic control while DPW workers cleared snow near the intersection of Ayer Road and Route 2. At 10:58 a.m. a caller reported two cars stuck in the snow on Woodchuck Hill Road. The driver of the second car had tried to pull the first one out, only to become stuck as well. Both cars were towed. At 3:08 p.m. three cars collided near the intersection of Ayer and Old Mill roads; a towing company was called. At 4:21 p.m. there was a crash on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction.

Thursday, Jan. 29
At 5:54 a.m. a 911 caller asked for help with a bank card that was stuck in an ATM on Ayer Road. At 2:42 p.m. someone came to the station to report threats made against them.

Friday, Jan. 30
At 4:53 p.m. a caller said their tenant, on Bolton Road, had found a young raccoon in the mudroom, and it would not leave. A police officer and the animal control officer conferred on how to evict the unwanted guest.

Saturday, Jan. 31
At 12 noon, two cars collided on Still River Road, injuring three people; at least one car needed a tow.

Sunday, Feb. 1
At 3 p.m. someone came to the station to report the theft of a cat; police explained it was a civil matter. At 3:24 p.m. a Myrick Lane resident called 911, saying two men who claimed to be National Grid representatives had come to the door, asking for personal information including account numbers. An officer spoke with the two men.

Monday, Feb. 2
At 6:39 a.m. someone reported a car swerving from lane to lane on Ayer Road; police searched the area but did not locate it. At 8:54 a.m. a Bolton Road resident reported a raccoon stuck in the garage; the animal control officer was notified. At 9:02 a.m. a 43-year-old Harvard resident received a summons for speeding and unsafe, negligent operation of a motor vehicle. At 1:14 p.m. a woman whose car battery died while she was stopped at the Prospect Hill overlook called for assistance; an officer was able to jump-start her car. At 2:51 p.m. a 911 caller had become suspicious after seeing a person park his car on Ayer Road, climb over a fence, and go up to a house. Police found the person was the brother of the homeowner, checking on the house while the family was away. At 6:03 p.m. a 911 caller reported a tan dog wandering around Woodchuck Hill Road.
