The Bromfield Drama Society will present the Disney’s “The Lion King, Jr.” The music and lyrics were written by Tim Rice and Elton John, and the book was written by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi. This slightly abbreviated musical is based on the Broadway production and the 1994 Disney film.
The Lion King, Jr. tells the story of the adventures of a curious lion cub as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters, including a spunky lioness, a charismatic meerkat, and a loveable warthog. To claim his rightful place on the throne the cub must find his inner strength and confront his wicked uncle.
The cast of middle school and high school students comprises KeeSeok Lee, Vivian Fair, Liam Wang, Maddi Drummey, Nina Iverson, Ivy Brown, MJ Gamelin, Kai Oldham, Jack Magan, Nick Shelzi, and Nick Thornton. The production staff includes Martha Brooks as director, Beth Drummey as assistant director/costumer, Becky Armitage as music director, Edie Hettinger as choreographer, and Rachel Molnar as dance captain/stage manager.
Performance times are Friday, Nov. 9, and Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Cronin Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door: $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
