The board of trustees for the Harvard Public Library would like to extend its deep appreciation to everyone who made the grand opening of the library pavilion a successful and delightful event. This begins with everyone who played a role in making the pavilion a possibility in the first place. Thank you to the library staff and patrons who pivoted to outdoor programming during the COVID-19 era. Seeing patrons enjoying the outdoors year round sparked the idea for a more substantial multiuse outdoor space.
Thank you to the Bromfield Trustees, Harvard Historical Commission, and the Select Board for support and signing off on the project. Thank you to state Sen. Jamie Eldridge for the celebratory Senate citation recognizing our work with and for the community.
We thank many generous donors to the Harvard Public Library Trust. We appreciate the work of Jamie Schwadel and her team at [RE]Architect of Ayer. The wonderful library staff led by Director Mary Wilson added thoughtful input and guidance on what is needed in this new library space.
We enjoyed showing what can happen in this new space when people of all ages come together to share a love of community, free and open sharing of information, education, and culture. We are grateful to have danced with bands One Twenty Too and Neighborhood Panic. Thank you to L’Ecole de Ballet staff and students for dancing and crafting throughout the afternoon. Thank you to our teen volunteers who went above and beyond with setup, clean up, and serving an enormous amount of cake. Thank you to Westward Orchards for generously providing a box of apples. Thank you to Carlson Orchards for their support, and to the Lions Club and others who lent their tents, games, and time. Thank you to all who separated waste Saturday afternoon—two and a half barrels of waste were produced, one and a half of which have already been composted.
Finally, thank you to patrons of all generations for sharing space and making connections. We look forward to continuing to serve the diverse needs and interests of Harvard, Devens, and beyond.
