There are more candidates vying for a seat on the Select Board this spring than any time in recent memory—four nominees for two open seats.
While Wednesday’s Candidates Night, co-sponsored by the Press and the League of Women Voters, gave residents an opportunity to hear Richard Cabelus, Ahmet Corapcioglu, Don Ludwig, and Eve Wittenberg explain their positions on important town issues, there’s only so much ground that can be covered in the time allotted.
Fortunately, three weeks remain until election day, May 6, and the Press is gearing up to provide additional coverage in a special May 2 pre-Election Issue. As we make plans, we’d like to know what’s on the minds of our readers. Specifically:
- What do they think will be the most challenging issues the Select Board must face in the coming year?
- What more would they like to know about the personal and professional lives of each candidate?
- What issues do they want to hear each candidate talk about in seeking to win their votes?
We could use some help. and we invite you to join us on the first floor of the General Store Saturday morning, April 12, at 11 a.m. to discuss how the Press can best inform voters and encourage turnout. Our editor, John Osborn, and members of staff will be present. Take a moment from your Saturday chores to stop by and help the Press fulfill one of its most important duties as a community newspaper: giving voters the information they need to exercise that most essential right of any democracy, their right to vote.
