In the past week, police made 14 motor vehicle stops, six resulting in verbal warnings and eight in written warnings or citations; there was also one citation for a parking violation. Officers also checked on two disabled motor vehicles, made one well-being check, issued or renewed one firearm permit, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, March 4
At 4:37 p.m. Harvard officers assisted state police at a motor vehicle stop on Route 2 eastbound.
Wednesday, March 5
At 8:34 a.m. someone called 911 about a dog that was loose on Old Shirley Road. At 5:20 p.m. another caller reported a dog wandering near the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Slough Road. In both cases the animal control officer was notified.
Thursday, March 6
At 8:57 a.m. a Sherry Road resident reported dogs were attacking chickens in the resident’s coop; the animal control officer was again alerted. At 9:36 a.m. an officer on Ayer Road issued a summons to a 35-year-old Ayer resident for driving without a license in a vehicle that did not meet safety standards; the car was towed. At 2:35 p.m. state police asked for assistance at a crash on the Route 2 off-ramp. At 2:57 p.m. a Poor Farm Road resident called to say a stranger had parked in the resident’s driveway and taken a photograph of the house. At 10:27 p.m. an officer saw a large flock of sheep rambling along Still River Road and called the animal control officer; by 10:47 p.m. the sheep had moved farther down the road.
Friday, March 7
At 7:24 a.m. a caller reported a car being driven erratically on Still River Road. Between about 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., police received at least eight calls about trees, branches, or wires brought down by the high winds. Warren Avenue and Still River, East Bare Hill, and Old Shirley roads were all closed because of fallen trees. Other reports came in from Mass. Ave. and Woodchuck Hill, Littleton, Prospect Hill, Depot, and Craggs roads, as well as Withington, Whitney, and Houghton lanes, and the Old Boston Turnpike. At 4:45 p.m. a 37-year-old Marlborough woman received a summons for driving with a suspended license and without an inspection sticker; the car was towed. At 6:36 p.m. Acton police asked Harvard officers to tell a Sholan Circle resident to call Acton about a collision there.
Saturday, March 8
At 9:03 p.m. an officer reported a tree fallen on Old Shirley Road. At 9:34 p.m. a 911 caller reported a burglary at a Hillcrest Drive house; an officer confirmed someone had broken a window to gain entry.
Sunday, March 9
At 8:11 a.m. a caller asked to speak with an officer about an online posting. At 11:40 a.m. an officer continued the investigation of the previous night’s break-in.
Monday, March 10
