Police Log: June 18 to 24, 2024

In the past week, police made nine motor vehicle stops, four resulting in verbal warnings and five in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on a disabled motor vehicle, made four well-being checks, issued or renewed one firearm permit, and responded to three false burglar alarms.

Tuesday, June 18
At 1:54 a.m. someone called police with concerns about a person walking on Old Harvard Road near the town line between Harvard and Boxborough. The caller said the walker appeared elderly and perhaps confused. Police checked the area, but the walker had left. At 1:01 p.m. a 911 caller reported a three-car collision on Still River Road; an ambulance went to the scene, but no one needed transport. At 9:43 p.m. a car struck a deer on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction.

Wednesday, June 19
At 1 p.m. an officer checked on a possible case of trespassing at a Glenview Drive house; however, the person who was living there had permission from the owner. At 4:28 p.m. a caller told police their mailbox on Pinnacle Road had been damaged overnight. At 7:16 p.m. a Depot Road resident called to say he was pressing charges against police for kidnapping because they had taken him to a hospital for evaluation the previous week; he called several more times over the next few days. At 8:55 p.m. police received a 911 call to do a mental health evaluation on East Bare Hill Road.

Thursday, June 20
At 8:48 a.m. a Still River Depot Road resident called 911 to say a red Ford truck was parked on the property, and the driver had made a rude gesture at the resident’s game camera. The truck had left when police arrived.

Friday, June 21
At 6:32 a.m. a 911 caller reported a fallen tree had pulled down wires on Stow Road. At 8:25 a.m. a Shaker Road resident said she believed someone had forced entry into her home, a concern she has expressed before; an officer took a report. At 6:16 p.m. someone on Slough Road asked for police help because their cat would not come out from under the neighbor’s deck. The animal control officer was notified. At 11:53 p.m. a Woodside Road resident called 911, saying someone had broken into their house and left a MacDonald’s meal for their daughter, along with a note saying, “Thinking of you.”

Saturday, June 22
At 6:36 a.m. someone reported hearing three shots in the woods near Stow Road; police searched the area but found nothing. At 11:02 a.m. a caller told police about a loose dog on Tahanto Trail; the dog has been reported before, and the issue was referred to the animal control officer. At 9:45 p.m. police received a call about a car parked on Mill Road with its lights on for about an hour; police checked and found nothing amiss.

Sunday, June 23
At 6:12 a.m. a caller reported seeing someone break into a nearby house, but the caller was not sure the person was still inside; police found no one there. At 1:31 p.m. a Simon Atherton Row resident reported damage to their mailbox, apparently from a car or truck backing into it. At 2 p.m. a 911 caller reported an injured hawk in the road near the intersection of Slough and Stow roads; the animal control officer was told.

Monday, June 24
At 4:02 a.m. someone called 911 to report a missing person; a woman who was visiting an East Bare Hill Road home had not been seen since about 10 p.m. the previous evening and had sent some unsettling text messages. However, the woman returned to the house safely about half an hour later. At 1:32 p.m. a Wilroy Avenue resident reported a large patio chair had been stolen; the chair was found in Bare Hill Pond.
