Police Log: March 17 to March 23, 2026

In the past week, police made 65 motor vehicle stops, 27 resulting in verbal warnings, 35 in written warnings or citations, and one in a vehicle being towed. Police also responded to three reports of disabled motor vehicles and one request for a well-being check; they issued or renewed two firearm permits.

Tuesday, March 17
Beginning shortly after midnight and continuing well into the next morning, high winds led to more than a dozen calls about downed trees and wires. National Grid was alerted repeatedly. From 1:33 a.m. to 9:14 a.m. there were several calls from Still River Road as well as others from Hynes Lane, Mill Road, Littleton Road, Slough Road, Mass. Ave., and East Bare Hill Road. Many areas also experienced power outages. At 3:53 a.m. a large tree was reported down on Still River Road, and the road was closed from Under Pin Hill Road to Madigan Lane. At 6:40 a.m. another tree was reported to have fallen across Still River Road. At 7:45 a.m. a caller said a large truck that was trying to access the closed area of Still River Road had become stuck while backing up and was blocking the road. At 10:50 a.m. a Shaker Road resident called to report trees down in that neighborhood as well. At 3:19 p.m. a woman came to the station saying she suspected her identity had been stolen; however, she turned out to be a Pepperell resident and so was referred to police there. At 4:25 p.m. a caller reported an erratic driver on Mass. Ave., but the car was gone when police arrived. At 7:33 p.m. there was a three-car collision on Route 2 westbound; state police had jurisdiction.

Wednesday, March 18
At 5:08 p.m. someone came to the station to report a possible scam. At 6:16 p.m. a Bolton Road resident who was getting divorced called, saying a large kitchen knife had gone missing for a while and had later reappeared by the kitchen sink. The caller was concerned the knife was meant as intimidation.

Thursday, March 19
At 12:41 a.m. a caller reported suspicious activity on Prospect Hill Road, but police found nothing amiss. At 5:16 a.m. a private investigator told police they would be driving in the Candleberry Lane area. At 10:36 p.m. a 911 caller from Park Lane told police his wife had seen a sedan pull into a drive nearby, then pull out and stop along the road; police found the driver had dropped someone off at a home and then parked to check some paperwork.

Friday, March 20
At 1:17 p.m. an officer responded to a Stow Road resident who was seeking legal advice. At 4:36 p.m. Ayer police requested the phone number of a Harvard resident whose wallet had been turned in to them. At 7:51 p.m. a caller complained of an erratic driver on Ayer Road. The driver had gone onto Route 2, so state police were alerted.

Saturday, March 21
At 1:04 p.m. a caller told police a Littleton County Road neighbor had left a message saying they had requested an ambulance. The caller was concerned because they had seen no ambulance come to the residence, and no one answered the door at the neighbor’s house. With assistance from the Fire Department, police entered the neighbor’s house and found the person had been asleep; nothing serious was amiss. Saturday afternoon, several area police departments received a request from Leominster police to be on the lookout for a person who had been involved in a domestic dispute and who might be armed. At 6:35 p.m., Harvard officers assisted Bolton police in stopping a car on Harvard Road in Bolton. A 45-year-old Auburn man was taken into custody by Leominster police and charged with assault on a member of his family or household.

Sunday, March 22
At 9:19 a.m. a Westcott Road resident called 911 and expressed concern about a family member; police made a mental health evaluation and concluded the person required hospitalization.

Monday, March 23
At 5:54 a.m. a private investigator told police he would be in the Candleberry Lane area for some time. At 8:49 p.m. a Woodside Road resident told police she was being harassed by a number of people online. Although she said she did not feel threatened, she planned to report the issue at the station the following day.
