In the past week, police made 54 motor vehicle stops, 44 resulting in verbal warnings and nine in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on two disabled vehicles and responded to one false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, June 9
At 12:30 p.m. an officer checked on a car behind an Ayer Road building and found a homeless man had parked there. The officer told him he must not stay, as it was private property.
Wednesday, June 10
At 12:34 a.m. Boxborough police reported an erratic driver had fled into Harvard after a high-speed chase and had hidden his car here. A Harvard officer located the car about 8 a.m. The driver, an 18-year-old Boxborough man, received a summons for reckless driving, speeding, marked lanes violations, lights violations, and failing to stop for police. At 7:40 a.m. a caller reported someone riding an electric bike in the middle of Ayer Road and refusing to move over to allow cars to pass. The cyclist was gone when police arrived. At 11:35 a.m. a woman called from the town beach, saying her child was inside the car and had locked the doors. After calling, however, the woman managed to get into the car. At 4:05 p.m. an East Bare Hill Road resident asked police for an emergency restraining order after being threatened by a 21-year-old Melrose resident. An officer obtained the order, and the Melrose resident was charged with threatening to commit a crime.
Thursday, June 11
At 5:50 a.m. Boxborough police asked for backup in dealing with an unwanted person who was sleeping in a neighbor’s hallway. At 3:24 p.m. a Myrick Lane resident came to the station, saying packages he had not ordered were being delivered to his house.
Friday, June 12
At 3:54 p.m. a woman requested a well-being check on her mother, who had not answered the phone. An officer went to the mother’s house, saw through a window that she was clearly unwell, and called for an ambulance. At 9:11 p.m. an officer told a group of youths to leave the Prospect Hill Road overlook because the area is closed after sunset.
Saturday, June 13
At 1:23 a.m. an officer saw a large sign had been left in the middle of Mass. Ave. and removed it. At 3:40 a.m. an alarm sounded at the Bromfield School; an officer investigated and found nothing amiss. At 8:26 p.m. on Prospect Hill Road a 20-year-old Lancaster resident received a summons for speeding and negligent operation. At 10:35 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident reported that someone he had exchanged messages and photos with online was trying to blackmail him.
Sunday, June 14
At 6:19 a.m. on Ayer Road a 26-year-old Somerville woman received a summons for failing to stop or yield the right of way, driving with a suspended license, and having an unregistered vehicle. At 9:07 a.m. a motorist struck a deer near the intersection of Old Littleton and Old Schoolhouse roads.
Monday, June 15
At 12:55 p.m. a caller reported a tractor-trailer blocking East Bare Hill Road. Police asked the driver to move the truck. At 4:55 p.m. near the intersection of Old Shirley and Ayer roads, a trailer full of bark mulch broke off from the truck pulling it and crashed into a stone wall, spilling the load of mulch. The Department of Public Works was called to clean up the road. At 8:50 p.m. a car hit the guardrail along Old Mill Road; no one was injured, but the car required a tow. At 9:19 p.m. someone on South Shaker Road complained about loud noises in the area. Police investigated and determined the complaint was unfounded. At 10:01 p.m. a 911 caller told police they had hit a deer on Still River Road. An officer notified the DPW to remove the dead deer.
