Fire and Ambulance Log: March 3 to March 9, 2026

In the past week, the ambulance responded to five calls and transported three patients to the hospital, one with Harvard ALS Advanced services on board. The ambulance was called to one motor vehicle collision.

Tuesday, March 3
At 11:02 a.m. the duty officer investigated a smoke alarm that was chirping at a home on Old Littleton Road. The alarm was past its expiration date. At 5:22 p.m. burned food set off an alarm at a house on Still River Depot Road.

Wednesday, March 4
At 8:52 a.m. a school kitchen worker accidentally pulled an alarm switch, setting off the alarm. At 5:55 p.m. Engine 2 went to a house on White Lane where a fire alarm had been set off by steam from a sauna. At 6:40 p.m. Engine 2, the tower truck, and the tanker responded to an alarm on Poor Farm Road; at first there was a smell of burning, but the crew’s meters detected nothing and the smell faded away.

Thursday, March 5
At 8:48 p.m. smoke detectors went off in the garage attached to a home on Prospect Hill Road, and the owners called 911. According to a press release from the Harvard Fire-EMS Department, a police officer was the first to arrive at the house. The officer reported the homeowners and their cat had left the house safely. The deputy fire chief arrived within two minutes and found heavy fire spreading from the garage to the house. Harvard firefighters brought Engines 2 and 4, the tower truck, and the tanker to the scene. Under mutual aid, firefighters from Ayer, Littleton, and Boxborough covered the Harvard fire station. A second alarm brought more firefighters from Bolton, Devens, Lancaster, Shirley, and Stow. Tankers from Bolton, Stow, and Boxborough helped keep firefighters supplied with water. The fire seriously damaged one side of the house, and the rest suffered from smoke and water damage. Several ambulance crews, the Shirley police, and the Harvard DPW all assisted at the scene. The state fire marshal’s office has not yet determined the cause of the fire.

Saturday, March 7
At 3:59 a.m. Engine 2, the tower truck, and the ambulance were called to a crash on Mass. Ave., and the crews helped clean up debris.
