Lover of dogs, devoted to animal rescue, secretary to Digital Equipment Corp. president
Mary B. (Silva) Lenertz, 95, of Harvard, died peacefully at home on Nov. 23, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Mary was born in Cambridge on Dec. 18, 1928, a daughter of Manuel and Diolinda (Godinho) Silva. She was the wife of the late George E. Lenertz, who predeceased her in 2019 after 55 years of marriage.
She spent her career working as the secretary to the president of Digital Equipment Corp. until its closing. Mary then began her new venture and passion of dog rescue. She was a lover of all dogs, especially huskies and collies. She competed with her prized pups in both dog sports and shows. She was a member of the Collie Club and continued her dog rescue for many years. Mary loved being outdoors tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by her dear friends and extended family members.
Mary’s funeral and burial will be held privately. The Anderson Funeral Home, Ayer, is assisting with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to an animal rescue charity, as it was so dear to Mary’s heart.
