The 2024 fall season is over for Bromfield’s six fall varsity teams, and new banners and trophies will soon be appearing in the school gym and front-hall trophy case. Here’s a quick rundown.
Cross-country
The girls cross-country team is the 2024 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 state runner-up. Plus: Both the boys and the girls cross-country teams are both 2024 Central Mass. Class C champions.
Boys soccer
The boys soccer team returned to the MIAA Division 5 state tournament this month as No. 3 seed, where it advanced to the final four before losing to Sutton 2-1.
Girls soccer
The No. 9 seed girls soccer players had much to overcome this season, but they also advanced to the MIAA Division 5 state quarterfinals before losing 4-1 to No. 1 seed Douglas, the school that won this year’s state title. Last year the girls were the No. 18 seed and made it as far as the round of 16.
Field hockey
The 5-8-4 field hockey team nudged its way into the MIAA Division 4 state tournament as the No. 32 seed before losing to No. 1 seed Manchester-Essex in the round of 32.
Now a new season of varsity athletics is about to begin. This winter Bromfield will field boys and girls basketball, swimming and diving, Alpine skiing, and indoor track teams. Ice hockey and gymnastics are also available through co-op agreements with Littleton for the boys ice hockey and Acton-Boxborough for boys and girls gymnastics and girls ice hockey. Athletic director Dave Boisvert told the Press that as of Nov. 25, registration was closed for all teams except indoor track. Practices begin Dec. 2 and competition gets underway later that week.
