Ayer restaurant supports Friends of Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice, Inc.

Press release submitted by Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice, Inc.

Friends of Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice Inc., a non-profit dedicated to providing charitable assistance to indigent persons in need of nursing and hospice services, expresses its immense gratitude to Tiny’s Restaurant, located in Ayer, MA. The local restaurant recently showed its support of Nashoba Nursing Service and Hospice by contributing a portion of the proceeds raised from its 2018 Super Bowl fundraiser. William “Bill” Mauro, owner of Tiny’s Restaurant, extended the patrons’ generosity by matching the funds raised dollar for dollar. Proceeds will provide financial assistance to Nashoba Associated Boards of Health/Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice for charitable giving and aid in the development of programs to improve the agency’s services and resources.

Rosemary Anderson, President of the Friends of Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice, explains that staff members of Nashoba Nursing Service & Hospice recognize the needs of patients and their families beyond what is covered under their health insurance, and initiate the processes to begin assisting them. “The Friends” raise funds to support these patients and their families in an effort to relieve some of the burden during their time of need — something the Mauro family knows well. Bill’s brother, Andrew Mauro, passed from lung cancer in 2011, and Bill is extremely grateful for the care and positive experience provided to his brother and their family.

Tiny’s has a long history, something Bill is very proud of. Established in 1958 as a donut shop by his father, Fred Mauro, and uncle, Bill Katralis, the family expanded their selection in 1972 to encompass a full restaurant menu. Named after Bill’s mother, Anna “Tiny” Mauro, the well-known establishment has maintained a strong presence within the local community and the Mauro family is now going on three generations. Bill’s children, Greg Mauro, Becky Brennan, and Jessica Callahan, all manage the family business under their father. Tiny’s offers a wide selection of menu options, most notable is their Wednesday night “fish fry” established in 1972 as an all-you-can-eat fried haddock experience. Two other local favorites served daily are the prime rib and the “Tiny” burger, a ½ pound Angus burger whose name certainly does not reflect its size! Tiny’s Restaurant is located on route 2A & 111 in Ayer, MA. For more information call (978) 772-2917 or visit www.TinysRestaurantAyer.com.
