Bare Hill triathlon

The Lions Club Bare Hill sprint triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike races will take place Sunday, June 7, 8 a.m., starting and finishing at the library at 4 Pond Road.

  • The sprint triathlon (individual and relay) consists of a 0.3-mile swim, 10.4-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run.
  • The duathlon is a 1.5-mile run, 10.4-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run.
  • The aquabike is a 0.3-mile swim and 10.4-mile bike ride.

Online registration is recommended; in-person registration will also be available at 4 Pond Road, Saturday, June 6, 4 to 6 p.m., and Sunday, June 7, 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. (RunSignup.com/Race/MA/Harvard/BareHillTri).

The Goose and Hen farm will offer a class on finding, eating, and cooking with wild edibles Friday, June 5, 4 to 5:30 p.m., at a location within a 30-minute drive from Harvard. Food truck and craft festival

Join for a day of fun Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Verbeck Field, Antietam Street, Devens. Enjoy food trucks, craft vendors, live musical performances, cornhole, and more. No pets. Rain date Sunday, June 7.


Garden Club annual meeting

The Garden Club of Harvard will hold its annual membership meeting Monday, June 8, 11:30 a.m., at Fruitlands Museum, 102 Prospect Hill Road. Connect with friends, hear about the club’s future plans, elect a new board, and visit some lovely gardens afterwards. (HarvardGardenClub.org).


Garden Club to donate planter

In recognition of its 100th anniversary in 2027, the Garden Club of Harvard will present a granite planter to the town Monday, June 8, 10:30 a.m., in front of Town Hall. The planter is installed at Town Hall’s former front entrance, and will be planted seasonally as part of the club’s civic beautification work. At the dedication, Garden Club president Bill Loehfelm will speak about the club’s history and its mission. Town officials and the public are invited to attend.


Printing, propaganda, and the American Revolution

The Harvard Press and trustees of the Harvard Public Library will present a program at the library Thursday, June 11, 6:30 p.m., looking at the role of journalism in the events leading to the American Revolution. Newspapers and pamphlets were instrumental in inciting discord on both sides of the conflict, but how did printers get their information, and what meaning did their words and symbols hold? Free. Women’s Business Network potluck

The Women’s Business Network will hold its annual potluck supper Thursday, June 11, 6:30 p.m., at the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden, 145 Bolton Road. Signup is required to Deb Oliva at dboliva@charter.net; indicate if you will bring an appetizer, main course, salad, or dessert. Guests interested in the WBN are welcome; members who bring guests will be entered into a prize drawing.


10-minute play festival at Cannon Theatre

The Cannon Theatre will present a festival of short plays Friday, June 12, to Sunday, June 14, at 28 Andrews Parkway, Devens. Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m. curtain; Sunday 2 p.m. curtain. See comedy and drama in 10 different plays from 10 different playwrights. (TheCannonTheatre.org).


Invasive plants workshop

The Sudbury Valley Trustees will lead a hands-on workshop in the management of invasive plants Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m., on the Small Nature Trail behind the Hildreth Elementary school. Learn to identify, combat, and dispose of common local invasives like burning bush, multiflora rose, bittersweet, knotweed, and others. Learn to use the specialized garden tools available to borrow at the library.


Curator’s tour at Fruitlands

Explore the creative process behind an outdoor sculpture exhibit at Fruitlands Museum, 102 Prospect Hill Road, Saturday, June 13, noon to 1 p.m. Museum associate curator of Native American art Tess Lukey (Aquinnah Wampanoag) will lead a tour of the creative process gallery for the exhibit “Land Tells Our Stories,” and discuss how three artists created works for three different Trustees sites across the state. $3 member, $6 nonmember, plus museum admission. Dramatic reading of Declaration of Independence

The Harvard Historical Society will present a program on the origins of the Declaration of Independence Sunday, June 14, 2 p.m., upstairs in Town Hall. In a presentation titled “The Declaration Then and Now,” actors will describe the historical context and show that Harvard took steps toward independence even before Jefferson declared it. Devens farmers market

The Devens farmers market returns this summer with a selection of locally grown fruits and vegetables. The market will be held alternate Tuesdays, June 16 to Oct. 20, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the corner of Elm and Jackson roads, across from the Fire Station. Yoga on Rogers Field

IridESSENCE Community Health Collaborative will lead outdoor yoga Wednesdays, June 17 to Aug. 26, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Rogers Field, Devens. Bring a yoga mat, water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Parking is available at the Bob Eisengrein Community Center, 100 Sherman Ave. Free; registration is required. ShirleyArts! festival

ShirleyArts! will host ShirleyFest on the Shirley Center Common, Shirley, Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy a day of music, children’s activities, crafts tables, and food concessions hosted by local nonprofit groups. (www.shirleyarts.info).


Pride month hike

The Sudbury Valley Trustees will hold a hike Sunday, June 7, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., to celebrate and socialize with friends in the LGBTQIA+ community. The 3- to 4-mile hike will be moderately difficult with rocky trails and some elevated sections. Wear long pants and suitable footwear, and bring lunch. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Groton Greenway River Festival

The 2025 Groton Greenway River Festival will take place Sunday, June 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Petapawag canoe launch in Groton. Celebrate the rivers and enjoy free fun, including cardboard canoe races, boat rides, canoeing, stilt dancers, arts and crafts, musical performances, live owls, environmental exhibitions, and more.
