Winter Fest

The Harvard Lions Club and Carlson Orchards will hold Winter Fest 2026 Sunday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 115 Oak Hill Road. The event includes people’s choice chili and mac and cheese contests, skillet toss, human dogsled pull, knitted hat contest, ice suncatcher contest, winterland photo exhibit, a fairy door field, apple cannons, scavenger hunt, and wassailing the orchard. Contests and activities are open to all; admission is free. Hard cider and flatbread pizza will be for sale.

The Winter Fest 5K road race will start at 11 a.m. at the Bromfield School at 14 Mass. Ave. Register in advance for the race, and learn more about Winter Fest, at winterfest.harvardlions.com.

Knights of Columbus fish fry

The Knights of Columbus will host a fish fry Fridays, Feb. 27 through March 27, 5 to 7 p.m., at Holy Trinity Parish Deacon Hall, 17 Still River Road. Enjoy fresh hand battered cod, fries, and coleslaw or seafood chowder. All proceeds go to help local charities and food banks. Dine-in or take it to go. Staff-senior volleyball game

The Harvard Educators Association will hold its 56th annual staff-senior competition with a volleyball game Friday, Feb. 27, 7 p.m., in the Bromfield School gym. Coffee and play for parents and young children

The Harvard Unitarian Universalist Church, 9 Ayer Road, will host coffee and conversation Saturday, Feb. 28, 9 to 11 a.m. Parents and caregivers can enjoy a warm drink, snack, and friendly conversation while young children play in a comfortable, safe space. No sign-up required; all are welcome.


Learn to make sourdough

The Goose and Hen farm will offer a class on sourdough bread baking Saturday, Feb. 28, 2 to 3:30 p.m., at 85 Old Littleton Road. Make European-style sourdough bread with simple ingredients and no kneading. Participants will leave with an in-progress loaf plus additional sourdough starter. $35 per person. Full moon hike

Fruitlands Museum will host a guided hike under the full moon Tuesday, March 3, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at 102 Prospect Hill Road. Explore The Fruitlands trail system, and visit sites such as the Pergolas foundation and the old Willard farm. Meet at the gift shop. Fusion energy talk and tour

Join Commonwealth Fusion Systems for a tour and talk on SPARC, a fusion energy machine currently under construction, Thursday, March 5, 5 p.m., at 117 Hospital Road, Devens. Meet members of the CFS team and tour Tokamak Hall to see the work in progress. Space is limited and attendees must be 18 and older. African drumming class

Old Frog Pond Farm & Studio will hold an eight-week African drumming class Thursdays beginning March 5, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the farm at 38 Eldridge Road. Learn from Moussa Traore who will interpret West Africa through the richness, complexity, and beauty of its rhythms. Drums will be available. $30 per class or $200 for the series. Bromfield Science Fair

Bromfield’s annual Science Fair will take place Friday, March 6, in the school cafeteria at 14 Mass. Ave. The public is invited to view student projects from grades 8-12 between 7 and 7:45 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow in Cronin Auditorium.


WBN addresses stress management

The Women’s Business Network will meet Thursday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m., at St. Theresa Church, 17 Still River Road. Pamela Dussault, personal crisis coach and caregiver advocate, will speak on dealing with stress and how stress is a signal of personal disconnection. Soup for the Soul

The Loaves & Fishes food pantry, 234 Barnum Road, Devens, will host a volunteer and donor appreciation evening Monday, March 16, 5 to 7 p.m. Come for an enchanting evening of sparkling lights, soft music, and hot, delicious soup provided by six restaurants from the community. PTO Spring Soiree

Queen’s Gala

The Harvard and Bolton Girl Scouts invite girls and their families to a festive evening Saturday, Feb. 28, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Florence Sawyer School, 100 Mechanic St., Bolton. Treats and sweets, corsages, and crafts will be for sale, and a photo booth will be available to create memories. Open to the public, $7 per person, $35 per family, cash only.


U.S. Navy Band in Worcester

The United States Navy Concert Band will play at Mechanics Hall, 321 Main St., Worcester, Monday, March 2, 7 p.m. The band is the premier musical organization of the Navy. Comprising six primary performing groups as well as a host of smaller ensembles, “The World’s Finest” is capable of playing any style of music in any setting. Free but tickets are required. Maple sugar days

Visit Old Sturbridge Village, 1 Old Sturbridge Village Road, Sturbridge, to learn about maple sugar-making on various dates through March 15. See the entire process, from tapping the trees to sugaring off, and hear why maple sugar was more commonly used than maple syrup in early New England. Costumed historians will also cook period foods made with maple products and the tinner and cooper will make maple-related items.
