Harvard Youth Soccer Club’s grade 5 and 6 boys team captured the Nashoba Cup championship on Saturday, June 20, capping off a strong season with a dramatic penalty-kick victory over Bolton in the tournament final at Progin Park in Lancaster.
The team finished the regular season with a 5-2-1 record, earning the No. 2 seed in the four-team Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League playoff tournament. Harvard opened tournament play with a 3-0 win over Nashoba before advancing to a championship rematch against Bolton, a team that had handed Harvard one of its two regular-season losses.
The team will compete in a state tournament June 26 and 27 at Progin Park; teams that advance will return Sunday to compete for the state championship.
