The Harvard Press, in association with Everyday Boston and Harvard Cable TV,  is proud to announce the release of Frontline People, a series of interviews with six Harvard workers and residents who have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic ever since a state of emergency was declared in March. The interviews capture and celebrate the work of a doctor, an EMT, a Council on Aging van driver, a firefighter, a police officer, and a nurse. Although their work is stressful and comes with risks for themselves and their families, they have found strength in the support of colleagues, friends, and neighbors. Frontline People is a record of life on the front lines at this unique moment in our history. It’s our way of acknowledging and thanking these workers and neighbors for their contributions.

Frontline People is a collaboration of the Harvard Press, Everyday Boston, and HCTV. The interviews were conducted online by six Harvard high school students. Cara Solomon of Everyday Boston, drawing on her experience with a similar project in the city, taught basic interviewing skills to the student team in an interactive workshop earlier this spring. HCTV operations manager Hristina Tasheva oversaw editing of raw interview footage, with help from station manager Brittany Blaney and student interns.

The Press and HCTV will release the first three videos this Fourth of July weekend. The first, an interview with Dr. Hugh Silk, will be available Friday, July 3. An interview with EMT Amy Gothorpe will follow on Saturday, July 4, and our interview with COA van driver Scott Dinsmore will be broadcast on Sunday, July 5. The second group of interviews is scheduled for release Friday, July 10, Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12. Watch this site for additional information.
