Healing Garden Walk and Ride
The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Perennial Walk and Ride for walkers, cyclists, runners, and their supporters is taking place through Oct. 15. Walk or ride at your own place and at your own pace, or start a team with friends or family. Teams are asked to commit to raise $2,000 or more and individuals $500 or more. A $45 registration fee goes towards fundraising goals.

Bromfield tour
School administration and the Harvard Schools Trust will host tours of the Bromfield School Tuesday, Aug. 22, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., to showcase the improvements made to the gym, cafeteria, and flooring. The public is invited to see the upgrades, many of which were completed by Bromfield’s facilities staff.
Music at Fivesparks
On Thursday, Aug. 24, Mark Schatz and Bryan McDowell will perform at Fivesparks, 7 Fairbank Street. Doors open at 7 p.m.; concert at 7:30. Schatz and McDowell have toured with Bela Fleck, Nickel Creek, John Hartford, Molly Tuttle, and Sierra Hull and feature fiddle and banjo tunes, waltzes, folk, and swing music. Boston Tea Party anniversary
The Harvard Historical Society will present a program to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party Saturday, Sept. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the entrance to the Center Cemetery, which is next to the Congregational Church, 5 Still River Road.
Bike for change
The 36th annual Bikes Not Bombs bike-a-thon will take place Sunday, Sept. 10. There will be 10-, 25-, 50-, 63-, and 105-mile routes; the 105-mile route will include a stop in Harvard. Learn more at bikesnotbombs.org/bike-a-thon.

‘To Life’

Honoring military service
The Nashoba Valley Celebration of Service takes place Saturday, Aug. 19, 4 to 10 p.m., at Rogers Field, 37 Buena Vista Street, Devens. Walking through Europe
Former Harvard resident Kathy Elkind will hold a launch party for her new book, “To Walk It Is To See It: One Couple, 98 Days, 1400 Miles on Europe’s GR5,” Aug. 20, at 3 p.m., at Knoll Farm, 700 Bragg Hill Road, Fayston, Vermont. The book chronicles the author’s 1,400-mile walk along the Grand Randonnée Cinq through Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.
Safe Kids traffic safety demo
On Aug. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m., there will be a Devens Safe Kids event at Bradley Circle, Devens. Devens families are welcome to enjoy a free fun and instructional workshop on bicycle and traffic safety. There will also be “Touch-A-Truck” and Devens Fire Department demonstrations.
Craft beer and food fest
The Assabet Craft Beer and Food Truck Festival takes place Saturday, Sept. 2, noon to 4 p.m., at First Parish Church of Stow and Acton, 353 Great Road, Stow. The event includes local craft beer brewers, food trucks, ice cream, music, and a children’s area with carnival games, an obstacle course, and face painting.
