The Ambulance Service responded to six calls and transported two patients to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support services on board. The ambulance was not called to any vehicle crashes. One person needed a lift assist.
Wednesday, May 22
At 4:18 p.m. a Lancaster County Road resident called 911 after their water heater burst in the basement. The duty officer went to the scene and found the water was not causing a hazard, nor was it deep enough for the Fire Department to pump out.
Thursday, May 23
At 6:57 p.m. Engine 2 and the tower truck went to an Ayer Road residence where a smoke alarm had been activated; firefighters found the alarm was malfunctioning.
Friday, May 24
At 6:07 p.m. police called for assistance at the elementary school playground, where a family’s kite had gotten caught on the top of the ballfield backstop; firefighters used the tower truck to retrieve the kite.
Saturday, May 25
At 8:14 p.m. the dive team and the drone team, with the fire boat, went to Lunenburg to help search for a missing swimmer. However, other searchers there recovered the person’s body just as the Harvard team arrived. At 11:52 p.m. a fire alarm went off at a West Bare Hill Road home; the duty office responded but could not determine what had set off the alarm.
