Led by the dynamic offensive duo of Soph Turchetta and Jackie Planchet, the Bromfield girls’ lacrosse team continued its winning ways in Marlborough this past Monday, May 12.
Overcoming an early 2–0 deficit, the Trojans rode nine goals and three assists from Turchetta and seven goals and two assists from Planchet to surge past Marlborough High School,17–9.
“They’re both fantastic players,” said head coach Dave Planchet. “Jackie and Soph are accustomed to playing with each other and playing the two-man game.”
That two-man game has been key for the Trojans all season long as the team shoots for a number one seed in postseason play. “We’re lucky to have them,” Planchet added.
It was the Panthers who struck first on Monday with consecutive goals from Mackenzie Little to put the Panthers up early, 2–0. Turchetta and Planchet answered with goals of their own to tie the game 2–2. Another Marlborough goal put the Panthers ahead 3–2. It was the last time the Panthers would lead all afternoon.
“Marlborough has a good team. I’ve watched them play a few times,” said Planchet. “They have a few solid midfielders, and we were just trying to contain them offensively.”

After a goal ripped by Bromfield’s Lexi Dutkewych evened the score at 3–3, Turchetta and Planchet scored three goals apiece in a flurry of offense plays to put the Trojans ahead by a wide margin, 9–3.
“If we can pressure the other team into turnovers, we can score,” said Planchet, and the Trojans did just that. Bromfield played strong defense and forced the Panthers to turn the ball over multiple times to generate an offensive rush. “I’m not worried about scoring, I’m worried about containing on the defensive end. From our attackers riding and putting pressure on the midfield all the way back to the goalie, I was really pleased,” said Planchet.
After another Turchetta goal put Bromfield ahead 10-5 at the end of the half, Turchetta and Planchet went on to score three more goals apiece in the second half to close out the game 17–9.
The victory brings the Trojans to an impressive 14–0 record, and 9–0 clip in Midland Wachusett B League play.
