In the past week, police made 42 motor vehicle stops, nine resulting in verbal warnings and 33 in written warnings or citations. Officers also checked on two disabled motor vehicles and responded to five false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Oct. 28
At 8:50 p.m. police attempted to serve a restraining order from the Maynard Police Department at a house on Jacob Gates Road. But the person who was subject to the order no longer lived there, having been forcibly removed from the property several months earlier by the county sheriff. Maynard police were informed of the person’s absence.
Wednesday, Oct. 29
At 6:46 p.m. a 911 caller reported an attempted suicide at a house on East Bare Hill Road. It is unclear whether the person was taken to a hospital.
Thursday, Oct. 30
At 5:01 p.m. a Woodside Road resident called with concerns about a bright, flashing light on the first floor of a neighboring house. An officer found the light source was a vehicle nearby, not something inside the neighbor’s home.
Friday, Oct. 31
At 10:43 a.m. someone called about a large bag lying on Ayer Road, and the Department of Public Works was notified. At 11:27 a.m. an officer saw a tree or wire down on Slough Road; again the DPW was alerted. At 11:28 a.m. an officer initiated a report of vandalism on Littleton Road; no further details were available. At 12:27 p.m. an Old Shirley Road resident asked for help with a possibly rabid raccoon in the front yard. The matter was referred to the animal control officer. At 1:19 p.m. someone called with concerns about two older people walking near Ayer Road. An officer found they were simply waiting for repairs to be completed on their car. At 7:59 p.m. a Depot Road resident said there was a tree branch on a wire above the driveway. Because it was on private property, the person was told to call a tree company.
Saturday, Nov. 1
High winds led to several calls about downed branches and wires. At 12:02 a.m. a 911 caller reported winds had brought down a tree or wire near the intersection of Pinnacle and Old Littleton roads. At 12:11 p.m. an officer said a downed wire was blocking the road near the intersection of Whitney and Littleton roads, and National Grid was informed. At 8:49 a.m. someone came to the station, saying a branch was on the electric lines along Woodside Road. National Grid reported the branch was on the cable wires, not electric lines. At 5:22 p.m. a catsitter, who was caring for a pet at a Woodchuck Hill Road home while the owners were away, reported a black pickup parked in the drive there. The truck turned out to belong to another family member.
Sunday, Nov. 2
At 1:05 a.m. a 911 caller said someone was waving down cars on Route 2 westbound. The matter was referred to state police. At 11:56 p.m. yet another fallen branch was reported, this time on Park Lane.
Monday, Nov. 3
At 7:42 a.m. a caller reported a yellow Lab loose near Stow Road, and the animal control officer was alerted. At 1:12 p.m. an Ayer Road resident reported damage to their stone wall; it had apparently been hit by a vehicle that left the scene without reporting the collision.
