In the past week, police made 13 motor vehicle stops, one resulting in a verbal warning, 10 in written warnings or citations, and two in summonses. Officers also responded to two reports of disabled motor vehicles, made two well-being checks, issued or renewed one firearm license, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, June 10
At 9:50 a.m. a lost iPhone from the Bromfield School was turned in at the station. At 4:38 p.m. a caller reported a crash on Interstate 495 southbound; state police had jurisdiction.
Wednesday, June 11
At 4:40 p.m. a resident came to the police station, saying he had lost money to an online scammer.
Thursday, June 12
At 9:40 a.m. another crash was reported on Interstate 495 southbound; again, state police had jurisdiction. At 4:08 p.m. a tow company informed police before repossessing a car in town. At 5:56 p.m. a 17-year-old driver received a summons for driving without a license in a vehicle that lacked an inspection sticker; the car was towed. At 6:17 p.m. a 911 caller reported a crash on the Route 2 off-ramp; it was referred to state police. At 8:05 p.m. an East Bare Hill Road resident called to say there was a parrot in the house; the animal control officer was notified.
Friday, June 13
At 10:09 a.m. someone came to the police station to report being harassed at school. At 4:07 p.m. a 29-year-old Ayer man received a summons for driving a car without an inspection sticker and driving without a license. At 4:38 p.m. police received a second call about the parrot at the East Bare Hill Road home.
Saturday, June 14
At 9:09 a.m. Harvard police provided backup for Boxborough officers when a burglar alarm went off there at a commercial building on Mass. Ave. At 12:10 p.m. an officer went on duty at the No Kings protest on the Common. At 1:43 p.m. someone reported a lost key at the Common. At 6:03 p.m. a 911 caller told police a tree limb was in the road at the intersection of Littleton Road and Cruft Lane; an officer was able to remove part of the limb and called the Department of Public Works to remove the rest. At 8:14 p.m. someone called 911 to report hearing fireworks in the Westcott Road neighborhood; police searched the area but found nothing.
Sunday, June 15
At 2:24 p.m. police investigated hit-and-run damage to an EMT’s car that was parked at the McCurdy Track while the EMT was on a call. At 3:26 p.m. a Hillcrest Drive resident complained about loud music from a neighbor’s house; police asked the neighbor to turn down the noise level.
Monday, June 16
At 9:25 a.m. police were informed that a Shirley resident had made threats to shoot up or blow up an Ayer Road medical office; Shirley police went to the threatener’s house, and the investigation by both Shirley and Harvard police is ongoing. At 10:06 a.m. a gaggle of geese crossed Ayer Road, briefly causing a hazard there. At 4:13 p.m. a downed tree limb or wire was reported near the intersection of Ayer and South Shaker roads.
