In the past week, police made 59 motor vehicle stops, again as part of a grant program for safe driving. Of those stops, 43 resulted in written warnings or citations, 12 in verbal warnings, and two in civil citations, which carry a fine. Two were recorded simply as stops. Officers also performed a well-being check and responded to one accidental burglar alarm.
Tuesday, April 22
At 2:34 p.m. a resident came to the police station to report a case of identity theft or fraud. At 7:47 p.m. a caller reported a cat in a tree near Still River Road; the animal control officer was notified.
Wednesday, April 23
At 5:23 p.m. an officer helped a driver who needed directions. At 5:35 p.m. an accident was reported on Interstate 495; state police had jurisdiction.

Friday, April 25
At 7:40 a.m. a caller reported a tree or wire down on Shaker Road. At 7:52 a.m. someone called with suspicions about a car parked at a shared driveway on Stow Road. At 11:10 a.m. an officer removed a fallen branch on Ayer Road and, a little later, some debris on the road. At 3:51 p.m. an officer removed a traffic barrel that had blown onto Ayer Road. At 8:15 p.m. a caller reported some people trespassing at the old observatory on Pinnacle Road, but the trespassers were gone when police arrived; an officer checked the buildings there and found them all secure.
Saturday, April 26
At 4:34 p.m. on Ayer Road, a 30-year-old Harvard woman received a summons for driving with a suspended license and failing to stop for an officer; her car was towed.
Sunday, April 27
At 10:30 a.m. someone turned in a lost cellphone at the station. At 10:38 a.m. a caller reported concerns about some photographs found on Prospect Hill Road during the roadside cleanup over the weekend. At 1:38 p.m. a Bolton Road resident called about a loud explosion from Devens. At 2:39 p.m. a 911 caller said a dog was loose on Still River Road. At 5:44 p.m. another 911 caller reported a tree or wire down near the intersection of Ann Lees Road and Babbitt Lane; the Department of Public Works was notified.
Monday, April 28
At 2:26 p.m. an officer spoke with someone about suspicious activity on Oak Hill Road a few days earlier. At 3:25 p.m. an officer removed a construction barrel that was creating a hazard on Ayer Road. At 6:43 p.m. on Old Shirley Road, a 60-year-old Waltham woman received a summons for driving with a suspended license and failing to stop for an officer. At 9:19 p.m. a 911 caller reported a car had gone over an embankment along Ayer Road; no one was injured, and the car did not need a tow.
