In the past week, police made 26 motor vehicle stops, nine resulting in verbal warnings, 15 in written warnings or citations, and two in civil citations, which carry a fine. A number of the stops were part of a Click It or Ticket safety campaign funded by a government grant. Officers also issued or renewed one firearm permit and responded to one false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, April 15
At 9:54 a.m. a 911 caller said a large horse was either lying down or had fallen in a field on Stow Road; two other horses were hovering nearby. The animal control officer was notified.
Wednesday, April 16
At 9:09 a.m. an officer filed a report on vandalism at school; no further information was available. At 2:51 p.m. a caller reported a minor two-car collision in an Ayer Road parking lot. No one was injured.
Thursday, April 17
At 3:19 p.m. a motor vehicle stop on Still River Road resulted in a criminal summons for a 47-year-old Harvard man. The charges were speeding and driving with a suspended license. At 7:05 p.m. an officer responded to a burglar alarm at a house on Woodchuck Hill Road. No one was home. The officer saw an open door, checked the interior of the house with backup from Boxborough police, found no intruder, and secured the door.
Friday, April 18
At 12:23 p.m. a Still River Depot Road resident called to say her car had been stolen. An officer made contact with her, but it was eventually determined that her boyfriend, who had permission to use the car, had taken it.
Saturday, April 19
At 10:52 a.m. Harvard police were notified a Shirley officer was coming to speak with a Stow Road resident. At 12:55 p.m. a woman called from Depot Road to say she had a young, injured squirrel in her car; she asked for advice, and the animal control officer was called. At 2:39 p.m. Stow asked that a Harvard officer bring over the clinician to help with someone who was suicidal.
Sunday, April 20

Monday, April 21
At 11:45 a.m. a Littleton County Road resident reported someone had dropped off six bags of groceries (which she had not ordered!) on her porch. There was no receipt to indicate whose the groceries might be, so police told her to keep them. At 4:18 p.m. a lost bank card was turned in at the station.
