In the past week, police made four motor vehicle stops, one resulting in a verbal warning, two in written warnings or citations, and one in a civil citation, which carries a fine. Officers also checked on two disabled motor vehicles, made two well-being checks, issued or renewed one firearm permit, and responded to two false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, Feb. 4
At 12:33 a.m. an officer checked on a vehicle parked at Fruitlands and asked the driver to leave, as the area was closed for the night. At 4:15 p.m. police notified National Grid that a wire was down and lying in a snowbank near the intersection of Poor Farm and Ayer roads. At 5:34 p.m. police informed the Department of Public Works that roads were becoming icy townwide.
Wednesday, Feb. 5
At 9:17 a.m. police again alerted the DPW to icy road conditions. At 3:55 p.m. someone came to the police station to turn in a necklace they had found in their driveway.
Thursday, Feb. 6
At 5:44 a.m. an officer responded to a burglar alarm at a Poor Farm Road residence and found an occupant had set it off accidentally. At 1:47 p.m. a car became stuck on a snowy section of Ayer Road; an officer helped the motorist and informed the DPW about the problem area.
Friday, Feb. 7
At 9:35 a.m. a caller reported hazardous road conditions on Clinton Shore Drive. At 1:24 p.m. a Littleton County Road resident called 911 to say three of her horses had gotten loose; both the animal control officer and Littleton police were alerted. At 4:13 p.m. an officer investigated a reported kidnapping, and one person was taken to a hospital; no other information was available.
Saturday, Feb. 8
At 11:32 a.m. Boxborough police asked for assistance in arresting a 26-year-old Boxborough resident for driving with a suspended license and failing to stop at a stop sign. At 10:27 p.m. a caller reported a deer carcass on Littleton Road.
Sunday, Feb. 9
Nothing significant to report.
Monday, Feb. 10
At 1:13 p.m. a warrant was served on Eldridge Road. At 4:08 p.m. a Slough Road resident called, saying she had freed a hawk caught in chicken wire, but it was injured; the animal control officer was notified. At 6:01 p.m. a 911 caller reported a car on Ayer Road that was being driven erratically, swerving and almost colliding with other cars. At 7:40 p.m. someone came to the station, saying a tractor trailer was trying to back down Old Shirley Road; police searched the area but did not locate the vehicle.
