In the past week, police made five motor vehicle stops, one resulting in a verbal warning and four in written warnings or citations. Officers also helped one person who was locked out of a vehicle, checked on one disabled motor vehicle, made two well-being checks, and responded to one false burglar alarm.
Tuesday, Jan. 28
At 8:14 a.m. an Under Pin Hill Road resident called, asking for advice in a family dispute. From 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the relentless high winds brought down tree branches and power lines across town, creating a number of power outages. Fallen trees and wires were reported on Oak Hill Road, Littleton Road, Lovers Lane, Warren Avenue, and Prospect Hill Road. At 1:34 p.m. an employer asked police to check on the well-being of an employee who was working from home on Lovers Lane and had not logged back in after lunch; police found the worker was fine but their home had lost power. At 2:49 p.m. a 911 caller reported two cars had collided head on at the intersection of Slough Road and Mass. Ave. Both cars had to be towed.
Wednesday, Jan. 29
At 7:01 a.m. a caller reported one car had rear-ended another on Slough Road; no one was injured, and damage was minor. At 11:08 a.m. police investigated an online scam related to unemployment compensation; it was reported to the relevant state agency. At 1:05 p.m. a vehicle collided with a utility pole on Ayer Road, breaking the pole and tying up traffic on the road. The driver—a 54-year-old Ayer man—received a summons for a marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a vehicle. At 2:37 p.m. a Tahanto Trail resident came home to find the door of their house partly open; they asked police to check the house, and all was well.
Thursday, Jan. 30
At 6:02 p.m. Harvard officers assisted Littleton police with an arrest on Littleton County Road.
Friday, Jan. 31
At 5:01 p.m. a caller reported icy conditions on Pine Ridge Drive, which is a private way. At 11:18 p.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident called 911, saying a car was stuck on the icy road in front of the caller’s house. The Department of Public Works was notified.
Saturday, Feb. 1
At 6:53 a.m. a car slid off Oak Hill Road and hit a stone wall; the car needed a tow. At 3:40 p.m. an Old Shirley Road resident reported a car had spun off the road, damaged their mailbox, and fled the scene.
Sunday, Feb. 2
At 1:09 a.m. an Oak Hill Road resident called 911, saying she heard unexplained noises in her basement; police found the noises came from the house’s water system.
Monday, Feb. 3
At 10:19 a.m. a caller reported one car had backed into another in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot. At 7:02 p.m. a caller reported an online scam where someone impersonating a friend had convinced her to buy several gift cards and send their numbers to the scammer; police told her to inform her credit card company immediately.
