In the past week, police made two motor vehicle stops, both resulting in verbal warnings. Officers also checked on three disabled motor vehicles, performed two well-being checks, and responded to five false burglar alarms. At least some false alarms likely resulted from high winds that shook even locked doors, moving them enough to activate the alarms.
Tuesday, March 5
At 8:53 a.m. a box truck broke down on the Ayer Road off-ramp from Route 2 eastbound, leading police to close the offramp until a tow truck arrived. At 12:06 p.m. a 911 caller asked police to be on the lookout for a driver swerving from side to side on Still River Road; an officer spoke with the driver, who by then had pulled over and was looking at his cell phone. At 3:34 p.m. a South Shaker Road resident told police about a scamming phone call. At 4:12 p.m. there was a two-car collision on Ayer Road; no one was injured.
Wednesday, March 6
At 11:02 p.m. a caller requested a well-being check on an Old Mill Road resident who was later located in New Hampshire.
Thursday, March 7
At 6:24 a.m. a caller reported cows straying onto Littleton County Road. The animal control officer was notified. At 9:46 a.m. young Franny, the comfort dog in training, paid a visit to Hildreth House.
Friday, March 8
At 12:05 a.m. an Ayer Road resident asked that an officer be present when her ex-partner came to pick up his belongings. At 7:10 a.m. a 911 caller reported a missing juvenile, who was later located and taken to a hospital. At 3:06 p.m. someone came to the police station with concerns about a person sitting in a car; police found the person was just resting. At 5:28 p.m. a caller told police a tree had fallen on Slough Road; the caller had removed it but said there was still debris in the road. At 6:09 p.m. an Ayer Road resident reported a suspicious text from a former boyfriend.
Saturday, March 9
At 7:20 p.m. an Ayer Road resident asked to speak with an officer about an ongoing civil dispute.
Sunday, March 10
At 7:09 a.m. a 911 caller reported a basketball-sized rock lying on Mass. Ave. Police called the state Department of Transportation to send a truck with equipment to move the rock.
Monday, March 11
At 1:53 a.m. police called on the Department of Public Works to sand roads, as some spots around town were becoming slick. At 10:44 a.m. a tree was reported down on Ann Lees Road. At 7:14 p.m. a tree was reported on power lines on Littleton Road.
