In the past week, police made 12 motor vehicle stops, one resulting in a verbal warning, five in written warnings or citations, and four in civil citations, which carry a fine; one vehicle was towed because its registration had expired. Officers also checked on four disabled motor vehicles, helped one person who was locked out of a car, issued or renewed two firearms permits, and responded to four false burglar alarms.
Tuesday, March 12
At 3:33 a.m. a resident called 911 to report receiving online blackmail threats. As the caller did not want a police car to come to the house at that hour, an officer provided advice by phone. At 6:33 a.m. a 911 caller reported a collision on Route 2 eastbound; state police had jurisdiction. At 9:19 a.m. an officer told Verizon workers on Littleton Road to move their truck out of the road and to call for a police safety detail.
Wednesday, March 13
At 6:32 p.m. a caller reported a group of cars and pedestrians creating a hazard in the roadway on Prospect Hill Road; they were gone when an officer arrived.
Thursday, March 14
At 6:42 a.m. a 911 caller told police a small, blue sedan was being driven erratically on Scott Road; police searched the area, but the car had left. At 7:30 a.m. someone reported a black Lab on West Bare Hill Road; the animal control officer was informed.
Friday, March 15
At 3:51 p.m. a person turned in a cellphone found along Warren Avenue; the owner was notified.
Saturday, March 16
At 3:05 p.m. a caller reported seeing a sick or injured raccoon under a blanket on a trail near Mass. Ave., not far from the schools; the animal control officer was called.
Sunday, March 17
At 3:46 p.m. an Old Littleton Road resident called 911 to report an injured or possibly rabid skunk in the front yard; the animal was gone when an officer arrived. At 4:33 p.m. a 911 caller told police her car had struck landscape timbers on Ayer Road, but no one was injured and there was little if any damage.
Monday, March 18
At 8:18 p.m. an Amazon delivery driver called to report having been bitten by a dog on Whitney Road earlier in the day; the animal control officer was informed.
