The Ambulance Service responded to 10 calls and transported six patients to the hospital, one with Advanced Life Support services on board. The ambulance was called to two motor vehicle collisions, and there was one lift assist.
Tuesday, Feb. 20
In the evening, some members of the Fire Department took part in ice rescue training.
Wednesday, Feb. 21
At 11:09 a.m. Engine 2 was called to a multiple-car crash on Interstate 495 southbound. A box truck was hanging over the Stow Road bridge, and two damaged cars were in the road. Firefighters cleaned up debris and fluids, notified the Department of Environmental Protection about the leaks, and stayed at the scene until a heavy-duty tow truck could remove the box truck. At 5:36 p.m. a homeowner called because an alarm was sounding. The duty officer found no smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide; replacing the batteries and resetting the alarm solved the problem. At 7:44 p.m. there was another session of ice rescue training.
Friday, Feb. 23
At 2:17 p.m. fire alarm trouble brought the chief and the duty officer to a home on Shaker Road; again it was a case of replacing the batteries.
Saturday, Feb. 24
At 1:02 p.m. a fire alarm went off at a business on Ayer Road, accidentally activated by a child.
Monday, Feb. 26
At 2:04 p.m. the Council on Aging called on the Fire Department to assist with helping a resident on Ayer Road.
