Jessie Day 5K
The 12th annual Have a Jessie Day 5K will be held Saturday, May 13, at the Bromfield School, 14 Mass. Ave., at 9 a.m. The 5K is a run/walk to honor Jessie Peterson, a gifted artist and athlete and member of the Bromfield Class of 2012 who died unexpectedly in 2009. Creativity workshop
An interactive creativity workshop, “Harvard: Do Your Art!,” will take place online Wednesday, May 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., supported by a grant from the Harvard Cultural Council. Living history program
The Harvard Historical Society will present a living history program Thursday, May 18, 7 p.m. in the meetinghouse, 215 Still River Road. “Harvard in the First Half of the 20th Century” features prominent citizens from 1940 who will tell stories about their industrial, social, and cultural lives and about the momentous events that took place during those early decades.
The program will also be a book launch for resident Joe Theriault’s edited rendition of Ida Harris’ book. “History of Harvard 1880 to 1940: Enter the New Century,” published by the Historical Society, which will be for sale at the program.
Stargazing night
On Thursday, May 18, from 8:30 to 10 p.m., Chuck Agosta, physics and astronomy professor at Clark University, will conduct a tour of the solar system on the Williams Conservation Land, 61 Stow Road. Viewers of all ages are welcome. Consider bringing layers, blankets, chairs, hiking shoes, and a telescope. Register at bit.ly/HCTStargazing.
Celebration open house
The open house for community members to see the decorations and theme for Celebration, the post-prom event for Bromfield students, will be held Friday, May 19, from 9 to 10 p.m. at Hildreth Elementary School, 27 Mass. Ave.
It’s plant sale time
The Garden Club of Harvard will hold its annual plant sale Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at Westward Orchards, 178 Mass Ave. The selections will feature potted perennials from local Harvard gardens as well as annuals, herbs, and vegetables.
Music at Fivesparks
Jim Infantino will appear in concert with Jesse Flack Friday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Fivesparks, 7 Fairbank Street. Infantino is a singer/songwriter who has toured with Chris Chander and Dar Williams and recorded seven albums. Willard Farm photos
The photographs of Harvard resident Ellen Harasimowicz are on exhibit at Three Stones Gallery, 32 Main Street, Concord, through June 18. The show, “Living Like Grass,” documents goings-on at Willard Farm in Still River for the past three years. An opening reception will be held Saturday, May 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Danny’s Place fundraiser
Danny’s Place, a nonprofit in Acton providing free and low-cost programming to youth in the surrounding area, will hold a spring celebration and cornhole tournament fundraiser at NARA Park, 25 Ledgerock Way, Acton, May 20, from 2 to 7 p.m. The event will include kids’ activities, a live music performance, and food from sponsors True West, El Huipil, and Westside Creamery. Native American celebration
