During the past week, police made two motor vehicle stops, one with a verbal warning and the other with a written warning or citation. Officers helped one motorist who was locked out of a car and three others whose vehicles were disabled. Police made two well-being checks and responded to one medical emergency in which the ambulance squad took a person to the hospital. Police also issued or renewed one firearms permit and answered 10 false burglar alarm calls.
Tuesday, Sept. 10
At 1 p.m. state police were chasing a car on Route 2 eastbound when the vehicle exited onto Ayer Road and headed into the center of Harvard, turning right on Still River Road, then ducking into the driveway of Camp Green Eyrie. Both the male driver and a female passenger abandoned the car. The woman was located and questioned by state police. The man fled into the nearby woods and was apprehended by state police later in the day. A Harvard officer said the man was wanted only for traffic violations; had he been considered violent, she said, local police would have stayed in the area where he was last seen and taken a more active part in the search. At 6:55 p.m. a Tahanto Trail resident called to say the family dog had wandered off; the pet was found later on Bowers Road.
Wednesday, Sept. 11
At 8:01 a.m. an Old Shirley Road resident called police to say a man and a woman were arguing loudly in the street nearby. Peace was restored after an officer came to the scene. Someone on Brown Road called 911 at 10:10 p.m. because a stranger with a flashlight was walking up to the door, but the request for help was canceled when the stranger turned out to be an Amazon delivery person.
Thursday, Sept. 12
At 8:38 a.m. a caller reported a collision when a driver pulling out of the Dunkin’ Donuts driveway T-boned a car headed north on Ayer Road. One car was towed, and the driver of the car leaving Dunkin’ Donuts was held to be at fault. At 8:55 a.m. someone called police to say a red box truck was driving erratically and weaving across the centerline in the area of Mass. Ave. and Slough Road, but police were unable to locate the truck. At 6:33 p.m. a 911 caller told Harvard police about a collision on Route 2 westbound, but state police handled the matter.
Friday, Sept. 13
At 11:46 a.m. a Prospect Hill Road resident called police because a contractor was refusing to leave the property; the unwanted person departed when police arrived.
Saturday, Sept. 14
At 9:02 p.m. a caller reported that a tree was leaning on some wires on Blanchard Road. Police notified National Grid..
Sunday, Sept.15

Monday, Sept. 16
At 6:25 p.m. a South Shaker Road resident called 911 to report that a grill had caught fire, but the homeowner was able to put out the fire before help arrived.
