Mass. School Nurse Organization thanks Fruitlands Museum staff

September 26, 2019

On behalf of the Massachusetts School Nurse Organization, I extend a huge thank you to Fruitlands Museum for allowing us to hold our second annual educational event Saturday, Sept. 21, on their beautiful patio during their very busy weekend with the Craft Fair and weddings. I offer a special shout out to Harriet Friederich and Tracee Bergeron, who helped make the morning a successful event for learning and reflection. Forty-three school nurses from around the state joined state Sen. Jamie Eldridge and retired New Hampshire Chief Justice John Broderick to hear about efforts in schools, communities, and the Legislature to address the significant mental health challenges facing our youth. School nurses triage and support students daily, and seek to partner with school staff, parents, and the community to do more to reduce mental health stigma and facilitate access to effective treatment. What a lovely venue to be inspired to do more for our youth; as a Harvard resident, I am grateful to share this vibrant, picturesque, and culturally interesting museum with my colleagues from around the state.
