The Harvard Press has openings on our energetic news team for one or more general assignment reporters to follow and report on the work of town boards, schools, community organizations … and breaking news. What’s newsworthy changes from week to week, so success on the job takes curiosity, flexibility, and a determination to find truth and report it thoroughly, clearly, and fairly. Every Press reporter is assigned a town board—or two—but what they cover is driven by the issues that matter to our readers, rather than items on an agenda. We meet weekly to review our work, debate best practices, plan upcoming issues, and enjoy each other’s company. While having reported for a student newspaper, studied journalism, or worked in a professional newsroom is experience we value, we don’t require it.
