Police made one traffic stop during the week and issued that driver a citation. They also assisted one motorist with a disabled vehicle and responded to two requests for burn permits. The ambulance crew responded to one medical emergency and took one person to the hospital.
Tuesday, Nov. 21
Multiple calls came in around 7:41 a.m. reporting an accident on Route 2. State police were notified. Someone called at 9:19 a.m. to speak with an officer about concerns for the well-being of a friend. A Glenview Drive resident called at 2:17 p.m. with suspicions that someone had been following her while she was out walking, driving a car behind her slowly, then passing around her. The caller said that after the car drove past her, it reversed direction, heading back and past her. Police investigated and say that the person in question was someone they knew who lived in the neighborhood. They attributed the slow driving to caution on the narrow road. At 4:28 p.m. a caller reported suspicions about a black pickup truck parked on Pinnacle Road and a group of youths seen running into the woods. Police checked the location, but the truck and the youths were gone from the area.
Wednesday, Nov. 22
At 5:13 a.m. An Old Littleton Road resident called to report that a loud burglar alarm was going off at a neighbor’s house. An officer responded and found all in order; the alarm reset itself. However, it came back on later, and the person who originally called told police that this was a recurring issue at that home and had been reported to the homeowner. Someone stopped at the station at 10:27 a.m. to report that a credit card had been opened in that person’s name by an unknown individual. According to police, this type of fraud would be investigated by the credit card company, which would want to know that a police report had been filed. A motorist called at 10:24 p.m. to report striking a deer. The driver was not injured, but the car had to be towed. The deer ran off.
Thursday, Nov. 23
A Stow Road resident called 911 at 12:18 a.m. to report hearing a scratching noise at the front door. Police checked the home but found nothing suspicious. They speculate that the culprit might have been wildlife. Ayer police called at 1:06 a.m. to ask Harvard officers to watch for a bus that had been at Wendy’s. Police say someone on the bus threw a beer can from the window at people in the Wendy’s parking lot; then the bus took off. Police searched along Ayer Road but did not make contact with the bus.
Friday, Nov. 24
An Old Shirley Road resident called at 8:47 a.m. to report a power outage. National Grid was notified. A resident stopped at the station at 3:31 p.m. to turn in some items found in the person’s driveway.
Saturday, Nov. 25: A motorist called at 3:58 p.m. to report a blue Subaru being driven erratically on Old Littleton Road, passing other vehicles in unsafe places. The Subaru was gone from the area when police arrived.
Sunday, Nov. 26
At 12:06 a.m. a caller reported hearing an alarm at a Pinnacle Road house. Police checked the house, which was vacant, but heard no alarm and found nothing suspicious. A patrol officer stopped on Prospect Hill Road at 1:39 a.m. to check on an occupied vehicle parked on the roadside. The driver told the officer he was dropping off a friend. At 4:30 a.m. the resident on Old Littleton Road who had called Wednesday called to report that the neighbor’s alarm was sounding again. Police went to the residence and again found all in order. A Lancaster County Road resident called to report seeing hunters nearby. Police checked the area and found that the people seen in orange outerwear were members of the snowmobile club who were clearing trails.
Monday, Nov. 27
A resident stopped at the station at 12:05 p.m. to report a case of harassment. Police are investigating. At 5:44 p.m. state police called seeking assistance from Harvard officers in pursuing an armed suspect who had kidnapped a woman from a supermarket in Leominster, according to Boston25 News. State police said they had been pursuing the person on Route 2 when he exited at Ayer Road, heading toward Harvard center. The suspect led state police and officers from Harvard, Bolton, and Boxborough on a chase along Massachusetts Avenue and onto Bolton Road, where state police called off the pursuit on orders from officials at the state police barracks in Leominster. The remaining officers from Harvard, Bolton, and Boxborough continued to check the area, searching on East Bare Hill, Westcott, Stow, and Codman Hill roads, but they did not find the suspect. Police report that the suspect’s name and vehicle information are known to state police, who will continue to pursue the case. At 6:20 p.m. a motorist called to report striking a deer on Littleton Road. The driver was not injured, and no tow was required, but the deer had to be euthanized. Someone called at 8:12 p.m. to speak with an officer about a verbal altercation that had taken place in front of the elementary school. A Woodside Road resident called at 9:11 p.m. to report concerns about an unfamiliar man who had been standing at the end of her driveway for a while. The person was gone when police arrived to investigate.
